Hi,
I'm going to try this in here, hope someone has some input. =)

I have heard of a 8mm mag necked to .30 caliber. I've heard of it refered to as .300 Asherst also...but I can not find any info out about it. No loading data, no balistics, nothing. I did see ONE (1)(a single) web sight that mentioned chambering barrels for it. But again...it was just in a list of all availible calibers.
Has anyone else heard of it?
Anyone seen it? Any numbers?
If I understand correctly it effective range is about 1300 yards. This true?

Thanks for the info!

Don't have any info in any of my books but you might try Ken Waters books Wildcat Cartridges. There are two volumes. I see them at gunshows most of the time.

The most common 8mm Rem Mag necked down to .30 is the .300 Jarrett. There are a lot more, but with the .300 Jarrett you can find loading data & it has proven itself as a very accurate round in both Target & Hunting situations. For more information on this round, you may wish to contact Kenny Jarrett @ Jarrett Rifles Inc. - 383 Brown Road - Jackson SC. - Phone: 803-471-3616 - Fax: 803-471-9246.
