Which 7.62x39mm round do you hunt with and why?

When hunting hogs in NC I always used my SKS with Wolf 154gr soft points, just cause back then it was cheap and readily available. Worked great, never had any problems with it.

Any of y'all use that 154gr SP in a rifle with a shorter barrel than an SKS?

It seems to perform well out of that length barrel, but out of a shorter barrel I don't know if it would pick up enough speed to deform/fragment...

soft point deform pretty easy. I'd say they are ok out of 16 inch barrels, no formal tests but I can see the difference in milk jugs full of water. HP's seem to be hit or miss

The round-nose SP load?

How has that worked out for you? Seems like an interesting option, does it shoot to the same point of aim as spitzer projectiles?
