625 4" or 5" ?

I'm about to buy a S&W 625. I'm not going to ccw. Mostly for target shooting, home protection. I'm leaning towards the 5". Any good reasons to get a 4" instead?

IDPA maximum will be 4" effective this October. If you don't shoot that event, it doesn't matter. You might be able to pick up a 5" from a competitor who is having to reequip.

I have had a 3" and a 5" for many years and like them both. If I was going to have to choose just one and it was going to be for general shooting and I didn't have a size concerne then I would definatly get the 5" 625. For general shooting I like the longer barrel and the little extra weight makes it a joy to shoot.
