586 unfluted

Maybe a strange question. I like the look of unfluted better. Does anyone know if there are unfluted cylinders out there for a S&W 586 .357 L frame? Or am I barking at shadows?

Dog: I have seen threads on the subject before. While I cannot say it's a flat "none out there", even if you could find one -- they are not really a drop in part -- too many contact points have to match up just right. I would check Brownells, Midway, and the other part websites -- who knows.

Yeah, I just wanted to see if they were out there to have a smith do it because of the timing. Kinda like buyin a set of headers for your car and takin it to a mechanic to install. Thanks :D

There were some made. Less than 100 though IIRC.

The majority were used on 50 pre lock, unfluted cylinder, 6-shot, 3" barrel "L-comp" like 586 revolvers. They were 586-6's, again IIRC.

Your best bet is to contact gunsmith "Vito" at the Performance Center. If theres one left floating around, he would know. Good luck! Regards 18DAI
