My question is not where or how to get it, or why to get.

I'm just wondering If I ever decided on a Glock Conversion or 1911, where would I get the ammo? I have'nt seen it on gunstore shelves or range stocks.

right now I believe it's a proprietary cartridge only available through guncrafter industries, the company that developed the round and the means to fire it.

though I would LOVE to see it become a popular round

Here's my take on the .50GI. First off, good luck finding ammo. You had better be a reloader, or independently wealthy. It's terminal ballistics are only marginally better than a .45 and GCI is the only place to get parts. Finally, no matter what anyone says, firing a .50 caliber bullet using a polymer platform gives me the willies. That being said, those 1911's in .50GI are pretty cool. If the ammo was available locally, I would probably look into it seriously.
