I understand that taurus is making a 45 snubby but WHY are they porting these guns?? Ported guns should NOT be fired "from retention". Is it possible to get a NON ported gun??

It's a .45 Colt snubby, and the porting is intended to reduce muzzle flip.

Some people will accept the limitations posed by porting to get a big bore snubby.

so I should just buy a used new service revolver with no finish left on it and "fitz" it huh?

I have a 445 (the .44 Special model), and it is not ported. You might check--I think unported models are available in .44 and .45 steel/standard weight models (not .41 though).

Two years ago, at a local gun show, I found a barely used 625-3 chambered for 45ACP with a nominal 3" barrel that I occassionally use for carry. Not sure how many of these were made, but they are out there. I wouldn't trade it for even an SP89. Woodman
