Try H110, and remember to seat those bullets where they belong. A 300 gr. bullet will seat longer, than a 240, and that is good in your Ruger, since it has a longer cylinder than a S&W. I using near max loads with Sierras 300 gr. JSP, and it is a whoop ass load. Very accurate, though.

I am currently working on a 340 grain load using AA#9, not sure where it will end up, but going to be a real killer load, but still safe to shoot :)

For 300 grain jacketed bullets I like about 20 grains of 296 or H110, but it depends on where the cannelure is. For 300 grain cast bullets, I like 21 to 22 grains, again depending on OAL.

Other loads I like are 10 grains of Power Pistol, or 7.5 grains of 231, both with 250 grain Keith bullets. The 231 load is nice and light, and the Power Pistol load is a good midrange one that gives about 1000 fps.

One thing to keep in mind here with these higher pressure 44 magnum rounds is the gun you are planning to fire them from. Be sure it's a modern heavy duty pistol capable of the higher pressures.

Hodgdon Universal for lighter loads with 200-240 grn bullets. For the full power loads it's win 296(H 110), shooting 240 grn or more bullets.

H110

I use 22.5gr of H110 and 240 gr JHP & FP in my redhawk and use the same cartridge in my 1894 levergun. ONE load for BOTH guns, no mix-ups.

I like Sierra 210 jhc with W296 26.5 gr. Not a max load according to the Sierra manual but, I get good velocities and great groups at 100 yds. Also, I am using a S&W 629 classic with an Eotech sight to send these little babies down range. I've had good luck with Hornady 200 xtp load with same powder at 27 to 28 grs. Good luck!

I've played around with a load like that--they put out a massive fireball from my revolvers! Lots of fun at night. :D

Pretty nice out of my Rossi 92 and my father in-law's Marlin though.

Don't forget to try Lil'gun! I know it doesn't have the track record of H110, but it shoots faster and more accurately than anything else I have loaded. Love it!
