308 Ammo Question

AR-10

Lake City Special Ball.

Saw some at the gun show in 20rd. boxes for $10.00 a box.

I believe it was designated 7.62X51. Can't remember if it is 164gr.,167gr., or 174gr.

Seller said it is extremely acurate, and is used by "Army Snipers" in bolt action rifles.

Anybody familiar with such ammo? I'm going back tomorrow, and if it is worth 50 cents a round I'll pick some up.

Thanks.

Accuracy difference is negligable compared to regular ball ammo, unless you're into competitions where a 1/2" would really make a difference. In that case a good reload would be better anyway.

50 cents a round? Naaa. Let it slide.

If it is M118 Special ball then it is a 173gr bullet. M852 is the Sierra 168gr HPBT and the M118LR is the Sierra 175grHPBT.
I would buy a box and see how it shoots first. M118SB is notorious for having bad lots. Ten bucks for 20 rounds is not a bad price if it is good stuff.
