300 wsm 165's and Superformance

Has anyone been using superformance with 165 gainers in 300 Winchester Short Magnum? I have looked at the data on Hodgon's website but was looking for some real world experience I don't want to waste the powder its not a good fit. Superformance seems finicky with its range.

I killed 3 white tails using superformance and Nosler partition 150's last year with my model 70 300wsm. Great combo and not one took another step with little meat damage. I had a few opportunities on big bucks in the 450 to 550 yard range. I am in a tower box blind with a very steady shooting position and with my range finder I'm confident I can make the shot. The 165's have a little better bc and will help out there past 400. I could go with heavier bullets but I have 200 Sierra gkhp's right now.

I am aware of the fragmentation possibilities of this projectile at close range on game. This spot is going to have 150 plus yard shots and I am not worried about taking short shots.

Anyone with any real world experience out there?

FWIW, I tried Superperformance with 180's and never had any luck, but I did not try it with 165's.

I have exclusively used IMR 4350 for the 300 WSM with all weight bullets and have always found a load that would meet my needs.

Yeah, the combo just did not group well for me. I know the gun is a sub MOA gun, but that combo always hovered around 1-1.5 MOA groups.

I haven't used Superformance myself but from what I've heard, I wouldn't want too.

My M70 doesn't really like 180 grain bullets either for some reason, though I only tried a few before deciding to go to 200 grain bullets. I would think you would have a lot of meat damage shooting the 150 grain partition at WSM velocities. But either way, it's just too light (IMO of course) for the WSM.

I have a few loads that are amazingly accurate, and very nice to shoot as well.

One is the 210 Nosler AccuBond LR. I used Ramshot Hunter to get about 2820 fps from that load. It is extremely accurate. I moved on from this because I am unsure about the ABLR's terminal performance on game but they shoot great in both 7mm (175g in my 7mm08 and 7RM) and the 30 caliber (210). I didn't like the 190 as much in the WSM.

My current bullet choice is the Barnes 200 grain LRX Bullet. Again with Ramshot Hunter it crests 2800 fps and it about 3/4 MOA in my gun. I hunt so that is way more than accurate enough for me.

I have begun working up a new load with VihtaVuori N560 that is exceeding 2900 feet with decent accuracy. It's not matching the Hunter load yet, but I'm just getting started.

The 200's are great long range performers for sure and the recoil isn't a lot worse than my 308 Win to me. (It is more of course, but it's not offensive recoil at all.)

The 200 grain non LR AccuBond would be a good choice too.
