1917 Enfield. I borrowed one of those from my landlord in college and used it to kill my first deer.

Certainly not the most graceful rifle out there, but pretty cool regardless. I'd like to pick up a Pattern 14 Enfield (basically the same as the Model 1917, but in .303 British) at some point.

This is one of my favorite 30-06 shooters.

It is a German K98 that was rebuilt by the Norwegians
post WWII and re-barreled and chambered for 30-06.

You can see where they milled out a little area on the
receiver to allow extra room for feeding the longer
30-06 rounds into the magazine with a stripper clip.

I had been getting A3s and 17's at one time for under 400, maybe 350 even. I guess those days are over so now I just dont' think I can lay down the green for replacements. But I did think the 17 was harder on my shoulder than the SPFLD. Odd, as I think the 17 weighs more.
