I've recently purchased the Barnes TSX .277 150gr. I've been looking for quite some time and can't seem to find the load specifics. I went to Barnes website, but it seems to be down until the 1st. I have found some similar charges, but nothing exact. I was hoping someone had a little experiece or could help me find a website that will list the load data. Nothing accurate. Anyone have any helpful information? Also, I am using Hodgdon H4831, Winchester Brass, and CCI BR-2Primers. This is what I've found as a "ball park" estimate. Hope someone could help out I'm hunting in 6 days and need to make some loads to test before my hog hunt.

OAL-3.285
Hodgdon H4831-52.0-55.7
CCI BR-2 Primers

Good range but you can push it more.
150gr is 150gr, so try these-

Hornady
50.5 = 2500fps
57.3 = 2800fps

Sierra
48.2 = 2500fps = 2081ft lbs
56.2 = 2900fps = 2801ft lps

Lyman
50.5 = 2240fps = 39,400pr
56.0 = 2788fps = 51,200pr

Nothing in my Speer book.

150gr is 150gr
When it comes to reloading, various bullets which may have the same weight, can have different bearing surfaces, diameters, alloys, and shapes. These difference in bullets can cause a maximum charge weight to vary greatly from bullet brand to brand, even though the bullets are the same weight.

Barnes most usually have different min/max weight charges when compared to Hornady, Sierra, Speer and other manufactured bullets of the same weight.

Barnes' website only lists two powders for most loads. As of 6/2009, their web data (dated 5/2007) showed:

150 gr TSX; 3.210"; R-P Case; Fed GM210M (magnum) Primer; 1:10" twist:
IMR 4350 - 49.5 to 53.0 gr
RL 19 - 51.0 to 55.0 gr

When you buy Barnes bullets, just remember that they are quite a bit longer than anything else in the same weight class. The Barnes 150gr TSX has the length of a 165-170gr .277" bullet. Slow rates of twist don't play well; and the amount of friction is different than a standard cup-and-core bullet. Data meant for Barnes bullets is strongly recommended. Substitutions don't work well, when it comes to their stuff.

As for the 4831 data.... You may want to find data for another bullet with a similar length. The Nosler BT might be close enough. Just start low, and work up.

Barnes manual for 270 win

My Barnes Manual Number 4 gives the following data:

150 gr. TSX FB: (Primer FED Gm210m)

H4831sc - 54.0 = 2704 57.0 = 2867

COAL 3.210

I'm back to report I have found the perfect load for my hunting rifle! There wasn't one group of shots I had that weren't touching and some almost dang near in the same hole! My cold bore shot was about an inch off, but I expected that. It has taken me so much time and money to find this. Especially because in California we have to hunt with copper only. Thanks so much for the help guys!! I'm going to list my specs below so if anyone wants to try. I know every rifle is different, but it doesn't hurt to have a decent "ball park" figure on what worked for someone else.

Barnes TSX 150gr
Hodgdon H4831--54gr
Winchester Brass
CCI BR-2 Primers
OAL- 3.21
