I'm ready to work up some R17 loads for the 260. The bullets I'll be using are Nosler Ballistic Tips in 100 gr and 120 gr. From now on I'll use which ever one turns in the best accuracy. None of my loading books even show Reloader 17, so I've been doing some googling. I have some info now, but would feel better if I had a little feedback from you guys on your best loads with that powder and what your info shows for maximum loads with those bullets. Thanks much, and the next coyote will die in your honor.

The rifle to be used is my Ruger 77 MkII Compact, with that stumpy 16 1/2 inch barrel. The light barrel heats up so fast that load development with this rifle is a slow process. And, just to say it, the Remington cases are weight sorted, fully prepped, and neck sized.

My buddy and I worked up some loads on Quickload for my 18.5" .260. I'm using 128grn Hornady SP Interlocks with RL-17. I've been sitting on them for about 4 months because I just haven't had time to go out to the range when it is open.

From what we saw with Quickload, RL-17 really comes into its own when you use bullets that are towards the mid to heavy end for that caliber.

603 Country I just spoke to Nosler yesterday and today about Reloader 22 in my 25-06. The guy at the service desk was very helpful and said they had test loads for RL22 but it wasn't in their book. He gave me the min.- max range they had tested, as well as test results for vel.

What I didn't mention was that I have a few other powders I plan to try, among them being IMR4064 (which is what I'm using now behind the 120 grain bullet) and Varget. I don't have Quickload, and my assumption is that the short barrel will do best with a fairly quick burning powder. Accuracy is my first priority, but if I do wind up using the 120 grain bullet, I would like all the velocity I can safely get - along with the accuracy, if those two will go together.

And thanks, Homesick. I just saw your note. I'll call Nosler.

My daughter's Rem Model 7 260 loves IMR4320 with the 120gr bullets. It has been very accurate and consistent in her rifle. She shoots the Sierra 120gr PH and has taken 10 deer with that combo over the last 3yrs. Mike
