I have had to change my traditional usage of IMR 4350 powder and CCI primers due to the recent shortages.

I am now getting excellent accuracy with my rifle using the following:

65 grains Reloder 22 powder
Remington 9 1/2 M primers
87 grain Speer spitzer bullets

Go for it if you are interested in the round for hunting.

I shoot 25-06 and my buddy shoot 257 weatherby. He has me by a 100 fps or so on every bullet and yes his gun looks nicer then my 700. Accuracy wise I probably have him on most days but that is somewhat the shooter also.

Either gun would do most deer up just fine if the shot is good.

Either are great rounds.

I've had a .257 Weatherby Mark V for about 20 years. Have shot many deer in Minnesota and Wyoming with it at ranges from less than 100 yards out to 500 yards (yardage measured with range finders). I started loading my own rounds for it last summer. The best recipe for my gun is a Sierra 117 gr. SBT with 70.8 grains of R-25, average slightly under 3300 fps. Consistant .3 moa.

69.0 grains RL-22, any 100 grainer, Fed 215 primer, once fired neck sized brass and seated as far as mag allows for about 3500-3550 fps from 26 in barrel. Best accuracy with Nosler partitions, second best with Barnes old style blue coated.

Have one of the older jap made synthetics, and it maintained it's accuracy longer after the barrel was free floated. Excellent deer hunting rifle for a stand, and very flat shooting. After 20 rounds, accuacy drops off till cleaned again down to bare metal.
