25-06 into 7mm

Can the 25-06 be rebarreled into a 7mm? I have a stevens 200 25-06 that I'm trying to decide what to do with. I first thought of just a new barrel and stock back into the -06 but I like the 7mags. Also any 7mm I should look into instead of the regular RM. It'll be used for longer range (for me) 1000yd. targets and deer hunting with maybe some elk if I get lucky.

Rebarrel it to .280 remington aka 7mm-06...

7mag will require different bolt, 280 will work just fine....as will any caliber based on the '06

not a different bolt just a different bolt head, Savage has interchangeable ones.

Dittos on just changing the bolt head ...... and they are not very expensive either.

I have a Savage 110 in 7mm Remy Mag and I want to switch it to a .416 Taylor ........ unfortunately, ER Shaw has dropped this bore size and chambering ........

PacNor quoted my double the price from Shaw for a pre-chambered barrel.
