How many grains would duplicate factory load ballistics? The Alliant guide only shows 14 grns./2685 fps. Will be using the load in my AR's. Thanks in advance for any help.

Can't really tell you why but i think i'd save the 2400 for heavy pistol loads and consider something else for 223....how about AA2200-you can get it from Powder valley for 47.00 for 8 pounds.....Dick

Cliff. I think Alliant #2400 is too fast burning a powder to be practical in an AR. Pressure rise would be too great when near max loads. I don't think that #2400 load will function the action of the AR either.

Mr. Holliday, do you know of a website for Powder Valley, or some other way of contacting them? That sounds like a great price, I want in!:D

Loading .223 with Alliant 2400

Loading .223 with Alliant 2400?
2400 is THE WRONG POWDER!!! When you use too fast or to slow a powder, you are STUCK with a max load that is below factory specs. Try Win-748.
