Ruger American 223 1:8 twist Sierra 65 gr. spitzer boat tail #1395.
What powder would be your first choice.
Powders I have on hand are.
H335
BLC2
IMR-3031
IMR-4064
IMR-4895
Or do I need to skip on to another powder.

For that bullet, I got best accuracy with AA2230. With the 64 gr Nosler BSB, I got best accuracy with H335 (near max).

amazing what works for some doesn't work for others. in my 24" HBAR, 1:8.

I have had great results with H-335 for 55 gn bullets. Tried many times to create some loads for 69 gn and 77 gn Sierra Match King bullets and was never successful. Got hold of some Varget and had immediate success with these heavier bullets.

sorry, but I have not yet had the opportunity to play with 65 gn.

you have great powders n hand. h335 is tops for 62 and under, but does well in heavier loads too. 4895 is probably the best for your application. I use 4064 exclusively for my 75gr and up loads, really like it, although you can get better velocity from other choices.

Out of the powders you listed I would say the IMR-4895 for that weight bullet. I use the H-4895 for 62 grain bullets and above.
