I just traded for a Remington VSF 220 Swift and bought the dies to reload it like all other calibers I shoot. What is a hood load tot 50-55 grain bullets? I have several powders on hand. I load varmint calibers a plenty. I have 204 222 223 22-250 17 hmr 243. I just got the swift I have been looking for.
Thanks

I have loaded the Swift for 25 years and tried lots of different powders and in my Ruger I like H380. It is fast, accurate and since it is a ball powder it is easy to use in a powder measure. Team it with a Nosler BT in 50 or 55 and you will smile. The 220 Swift is one of my favorites.

I also have used H-380 exclusively in my Swift for years with 50 and 55 grain bullets. Works great and makes up some VERY accurate loads.

My No. 1 V in 220 Swift shoots well with both H380 and IMR 4320. !:14" twist and likes 50 gr. bullets best.

Try 38.5 grains of imr 4064 behind a Nosler 55 gr Ballistic Tip. Can't go wrong with 4064 in a Swift.

603 Country, That is the exact same load I use in my Swift except I use the Sierra 55gr BlitzKings! With 38.5 gr 4064, I see around 3750-3800 fps out of my 26" Winchester heavy Varmint. This load shoots sub MOA and on a good day I can get sub 1/2 MOA.

Wyo, I got that load from an old Gun Digest from the early 70's. The article said that load worked in every Swift he had ever shot. So I loaded some up (worked up to it) and Ooo Baby did it shoot. I'm on barrel 2, and that same load is golden. I guess that my best group was the ragged hole that can be entirely covered by a dime. My best shooting was with Norma cases, but the Winchesters do fine also. The OP needs to try that load and then send us flowers and a thank you note.:D
