In Washington State forests you need to have a catcher now as a ticket with a fine will be written for leaving spent brass behind.

I have a question, why would you want to?
Because on my family's farm, we have cows and since it's not consistent about where the spent shells go, it takes me like 10 minutes and i can't find all of the shells. I have to pick them up so the cows don't eat them and it's a hassle to pick them up.

With the price of brass it is worth saving a sack full and selling it... easy 5 bucks right there...
