1925 LeFever Double Barrel Nitro 12ga.

I inherited my grandfather's 1925 LeFever Nitro. It's not in great shape with a cracked foreend stock and a little surface rust. Otherwise - the gun appears to be in solid working shape.

My questions are two-fold. Is this gun safe to fire with modern 12ga. rounds?

Secondly - is there any way to figure out what this gun might be worth roughly?
