Anyone have a suggestion for best muzzle device for a 1911. They all look remarkably similar so wondering if one is any better than the other.

Probably means a compensator.
If so, it depends on the caliber.
The slower the round, the less effective they are.
Compensators are designed mostly for .38 Super and the like.

I'd skip the compensator and just go straight to a suppressor, if it were legal in my state. You get the recoil reduction similar to a compensator/brake and also significantly less noise and muzzle flash. .45acp is great for suppressing due to it's subsonic nature.

For a 1911 I consider a suppressor to be the 'best muzzle device' for the reasons above. IMO.
