1911 for my car

I'm sure many of you carry a 1911 in your car. For those of you that don't keep it physically on your person, what condition do keep the gun in? Cocked and locked or condition 2? I guess the same question could go for one kept in the nightstand.

I was wondering what kind of car you had for trade.

Unfortunately, I live in Illinois, where our current Governor and State Police believe that honest citizens are too untrustworthy to protect our own selves without shooting up the whole state, and therefore, we are not allowed to carry guns concealed or in our cars.
