18-20"barrel and floating forend for lightweight ar build

I wouldnt mind doing a lightweight 18-20" build for an ar15. I want to go lighter than 20" gov. Profile but still have higher velocity than 16" barrel. Where to find a lightweight 18" or 20" barrel? Which handguard would you go with? Thanks!

So to further elaborate this project would be as close to colt sp1 nominal weight as possible (light). but would be free floating and with a flat top a3 receiver. Also m4 feedramps would be preferred.

Definitely would go with either a MI Gen 2 SS or AP Custom Carbon fiber. They are about the lightest on the market that I have ran across. As for barrels, I would check fulton armory and look at some of their criterion barrels. These are basically Krieger barrels and are very accurate. Well skip the criterion, they don't seem to have any 18" light weight barrels right now.

Just my opinion but you may find a thin 20" barrel will not be as accurate as a thicker OR shorter thin barrel. Using a freefloat may help or maybe not.

Agreed. If it goes 1.5 moa or better Im ok .
