Not sure if this has been asked before, what i want to know is can i take my magnum 3" chamber Rem choke barrel off my mag. 1100 and put it on my standard 2 and 3/4: chamber model 1100? Will it be able to cycle light loads for shooting clays?

If you have a RemChoke 3" Model 1100 barrel you must have a Steel Shot barrel. You can put it on your 2-3/4" gun, but you should not shoot anything but steel 3" loads.
It will very likely NOT cycle any light loads. The Steel Shot barrel is just like the old 1100 Magnum barrels, with one gas port.
What's wrong with the 2-3/4" barrel on your 2-3/4" gun?

yes you can put a 2 3/4 barrel on your mag receiver

not sure how light you are talking about,,,but any standard velocity 2 3/4 load should make it cycle

for the clays you will just have to get a box that you plan to use and give it a try

my mag 1100 with a 2 3/4 barrel functions fine with Winchester AA,,, yours may not,,,just need to try what ever shells yo plan to use,,if they don't cycle try a different shell,,maybe a little hotter

virginian; yea my barrel does say steel shot , but i think thats for the mod. choke tube that came with it, my other choke tube says full, steel or lead. My 2-3/4 1100 has a shotgun barrel on it, and i wanted to shoot low base shells though it, because my mag won't cycle them, and it's not supposed to either. I thought it was the different types of receivers that allowed different loads to cycle, but you are problaly right it's the gas ports in the barrel. guess i'll just have to buy a barrel for my light 1100.:)

thanks for the suggestion virginian, but my nephew has been wanting a rifled deer barrel for his 1100 . i'll see what he'll offer me, and i'll look around for a 2nd hand barrell. I don't need the deer barrel any more, the area i hunt deer in southern tier of NY is allowing us to use rifles now.

Oh my. You never said it was a rifled barrel ! Game changer. Look at a 28" Light Contour barrel. I love mine.
F243041 is the Sporting version, actually Target Contour, with bigger ports for lighter loads. They don't recommend shooting heavy loads with it.
F243044 - is the field version, suitable for all 2-3/4" loads.

yep it's a rem. rifled barrel. i had the gun also scoped, but now i just want to convert the gun to shooting clays. yea i know about the lt contore barrels they are great, but i was just trying to go the cheap route and switch my mag barrel back and forth between the 2 receivers. I've got other options for shooting clays. I usually use my 20ga citiori or A-5 sweet 16ga, but just wanted to blast some with a 12ga. thanks for the suggestions.
