Just got an 11-87Police, and I am sure its overboard and unecessary, but i am thinking of sending out my bolt and such to get hardchromed or plated....

Just thinking from the AR world, the increase in lubricity, and ease of cleaning, and just the hott sexy idea of it all.... what do you think? worth a go, or do i just have too much time on my hands?

i found these guys locally: http://www.techplate.com/firearms_pl.htm and they seem to be up to the task, but any imput on the plausability of this, or a recommendation on who can do it would be great, thanks...

Remington hard chromes the bolts in the 870 Wingmaster and the 1100.

This makes the bolt much easier to clean, and you have less wear.

The Remington factory plating is a shiny smooth finish.
I personally like the more satin gray of standard finish hard chrome, although many platers can polish the parts and this will leave it with a shiny finish.

Personally, I'd go for it.
I've been thinking about replacing my black Police bolt with a chrome bolt, but the plating might be even cheaper.

Please let us know how it looks if you have it done.
