Hey guys, i just purchased a Houge Overmolded stock with the 920. diameter barrel channel for my Ruger 10 22. I have the standard taper barrel, and i did this because i could always switch to a bull barrel when i have the funds.

But, is this a common thing to do?

How large is the gap between the barrel and stock? very large?

And does "floating the barrel" decrease accuracy?

Thanks , Max

I actually did the same thing about a year ago. The regular tapered barrel shot fine in the new stock but the appearance really bothered me! There was a little less than a quarter gap on each side. All the .920 barrels I could find in retail stores were 250+ and I couldnt bare to drop that on a barrel until a few weeks ago I found some on eBay for 130 shipped! It was made by keystone arms. Nice barrel! Gun looks and shoots great now!
