    Nosler E Tip

I got out to test those .30-06/Varget/150gr Etip loads. My excuses are cold fingers, cool wind in my face making my eyes water, and a 6lb trigger on an 8lb rifle. They show potential for sure. I’ll load up. Few more and maybe keep trying them the next time out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    ‘Dragging’ cylinder on Ruger SBH.

I took my Super Blackhawk out shooting the other day with a new box of ammo. On the first cylinder the cylinder was having a hard time turning as I cocked the hammer. It almost felt like the brass on the cartridge rim was a bit too thick or something. I mean you really have to force the cylinder...

    SP-101: Holster Advice Wanted

Honestly your best bet would be to find someone local to you that does kydex. I had one that a guy made for me, molded off my pistol (not a blue gun) and it was great for carrying. I no longer have the gun and the holster went with the sale, or else I'd offer it to you.

    .44 mag powder choices

I have recently purchased a 7.5" SBH in .44Mag. I have reloaded for a few .44's before, but only for plinking loads. I am looking for some heavy, hunting loads to load up and get some good practice with before next fall's deer season. I have pretty much made up my mind that I want to use a...

    Help me start shooting SA's

So I recently scored a decent deal at a local auction and came home with a Ruger SBH 7.5" .44mag. I was kind of thinking about buying one and ended up coming home with it. I have put a few thousand rounds through various double action revolvers, but never shot much for single-actions besides...

Old Thread on reloading shotshells for revolvers

I could have swore that I saw a great post on this forum a few years back about a member here making shotshells for this revolver. It included an under shot wad, overshot card, and a heavy crimp to hold it together. Anybody have a link to that post? I can't seem to find it with the search tools...

Favorite powders for .243 Win and 65gr HP's?

Awhile back I bought a box of reloading goodies at an estate sale. It came with a mostly-full box of .244" bullets that were labeled 75gr. Well I pulled them out the other day and weighed them. Turns out they are instead 65gr HP's brand unknown. I have usually been loading heavier bullets for...

Neck Sizing with a FL die?

I've heard mention of this practice, but never an explanation of how to do it. Is this a safe practice? Is it reliable? I looked through all my die instructions and none have touched on this. I have accumulated a few sets of good used rifle dies that I'd like to use without buying another neck...

Which old presses accept standard shellholders?

I come across older used c- and o-type presses frequently and have noticed that they are usually a bit better (read stronger) built than most of the bargain presses of today. I was wondering though, after noticing some funky shellholder setups, which brands or models take the standard...

I need a hand please. Disassembly of a Remington 760.

I offered to clean up a friends rifle. It's a Remington 760 in .30-06. I've searched Youtube for a good video showing the process, but haven't found a really good one yet. I really want to avoid cleaning from the muzzle end. Any help? Even some written directions would be of help! Thanks in advance!

.22-250, .243, .30-06: One to do them all?

I'm starting to reload for the .22-250 and was wondering if there was a powder (not Varget, can't find it) that would work well in all three? As of now I'm thinking my best bet would be IMR4064, IMR4350, or IMR4895. Bullet weights will be 50-55gr in the .22-250, 85-100 in the .243, and 165gr in...

Need some help with a verdict on some test rounds

Here's the data: .223 Rem PMC brass CCI 400 60gr Hornady V-max 26.0gr Varget COL: 2.303" Shot from a Stevens (Savage Arms) 200 This load is experiencing some cratering around the firing pin mark. My book lists 27.2grs as the mas load. These loads are compressed. I loaded up 20 of these and...

Irregular wear on 870 action bars

Alright guys this has been bothering me since I bought this shotgun 7 years ago. On my 870 the left action bar is glossy smooth and bear metal. The right one, factory finish yet. I can speak honestly and say this shotgun has over 5,000 rounds through it. It works, like it should, but is this...

    Short Hornady pistol brass

Why does it seem that anytime I come across Hornady pistol brass, that it's much shorter than all the rest? I shoot mixed brass in my revolvers, and have found this to be the case, that Hornady brass is significantly shorter in both .357 and .44 magnum. Any clue?

    Factory ammo failure.

On a recent shooting day, I had something that had never happened to me before. I had a factory (name withheld) round fail me in a big way. I went to pull the trigger, and poof. Primer ignited, but no boom followed. I've had a reload squib before, so I knew the noise... I stopped shooting...

    Brass rating.

This has been in my head lately. Using a list of brass from various manufacturers, from experience how would you rate brass in overall general use. From everything to longevity, most consistent, AFFORDABILITY, ease of use, etc. Tell me what you think. Before you list the manufacturers, let me...

Need help with a reloading concept.

Today I was told that lengthening your COL would increase pressure, if all things were equal to a shorter COL. I was always under the impression that by increasing your COL, you were increasing case capacity (from primer to base of bullet) and thus leaving more room for the same amount of powder...

.38 Spl data in .357 brass

Did I hear correctly somewhere that you can safely use .38 Spl data in a .357 case to have nice and light .357 loads without having to readjust your dies down to the .38 Spl? I have a young friend who is interested in handgun shooting and would like to reload some very light loads rather than...

    Unique and Lee Manual

While looking through my manuals for some .357 reloading data, I went off of Lee's data for a 158 gr cast SWC. Using Unique, the manual lists a "never exceed" load at 6.0 grs. I developed loads up to 5.7grs and they still seemed very wimpy. I mean, they didn't feel much different than a factory...

    Waiting on an SP101

I placed a call to the gunshop back home today(I'm at school) and ordered my 3" SP101. Back ordered.... UGH! I've got two weeks until I turn 21 and this is the highlight of my birthday! Hopefully something works out or I'll just have to visit some competing shops. I hope my wait isn't too long!
