Want to talk about cowboy shooting in a podcast?

I'm looking for people to interview about any of the following topics: - Single action revolvers - cowboy action shooting - cowboy mounted shooting - holsters for cowboy shooting - costuming for cowboy shooting - reloading for cowboy shooting - 1911s - 1892 rifles - other topics relating to...

    SASS, CAS, Mounted Shooting

I haven't been on this board in ages, but while googling to try to get info on black powder, I ended up here. :) I'm doing some research on cowboy mounted shooting and I'm finding some things are confusing me. Can I run a few questions by you? I'm assuming that the NRA 3 rules still apply...

    From sheep to empowered

I don't know if he wants to be identified, but i received a kind note from someone, suggesting that some on the board might want an update on a situation I posted about here awhile ago. Brief Recap: I woke up to find a man asleep on my bedroom floor. Unthinking, and unarmed, I woke him up and...

    Book training

I'm looking for a book with dry fire and range exercises to improve marksmanship and further develop defensive skills. Does any such thing exist? I've asked on other boards and found nothing like what I'm looking for.

    Kids and Guns

What do you think are the best methods for keeping kids safe from guns? I'd assume it would be some combo of gun safety and handling 101 and keeping the guns locked up. I don't have kids, so haven't given it much thought. For those of you who do have kids, what are your safety practices?

    Thank you, admins

I think the group culture here is one of the nicest to be had anywhere. Moderation is always handled with consideration and fairness. I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to those of you who give your time into running this place. I appreciate the politeness and intelligence of this...

    Clearing malfunctions (problem)

I cannot lock the slide back with my off hand on my XD-9. Further, I'm not convinced any amount of strength training will really help. I plan to get an extended slide stop installed, which may help go from, "not possible", to simply, "really hard." But I can barely rack it back with my off...

    IWB concealment holster

I need an IWB option for my Kahr PM9. I'm new to this, so I can only imagine what might work. But here's my thoughts... I think appendix carry will work best for me. Need IWB I'm looking at tuckable. I'm not ever wearing a big, thick belt, and aside from concealment, tuckable look more stable...

    Bad Habits

"If you learn to shoot with a 9mm or other bigger caliber weapon, you will develop bad habits. Everyone should learn with a .22." Discuss, please. Agree? Disagree? What kind of bad habits would you be able to avoid with a .22? (flinching?)

    SA vs DA

In a gun with a hammer, SA vs DA seems obvious to me. (I think I understand it.) But in a semi-automatic, I can't figure out what this translates to. I've had my own gun apart (XD9) and looked at the inside of a Glock, so if any of this can be translated into either of those, it would be...

    Electronic Ear Muffs?

A class I'm hoping to do in Nov, wants electronic ear muffs. What should I expect to spend? Do cheap brands make any difference over more expensive brands?

    What's with the zombies?

Aside from learning about gun care, shooting, etc, I'm also learning a new uh...culture. :D So, what's with gun people and zombies? Is this like the apocalypse but with the undead? If the zombies come, can I come to your house? :D ETA: nothing to do with zombies, but yeesh! I've gone from...

    Adamant about a .22

Was talking to some guy yesterday, who probably worked my ever loving last nerve. But, I recognize I'm new and maybe I'm overlooking something. He is quite insistent that my gun should be a .22. He is insistent even after I told him I have a 9mm that I really love. Per him, .22lr bounces...

    What's next? (Training)

With my own gun, at 3-10yds, standing still, with good lighting, I'm now a pretty good shot. :D (Rapid improvement from dry fire exercises, and the wall exercise that someone posted to this board.) So, I'm wondering what my next steps are, and how to get there? Most of my shots are in the 9...

    Don't point that at me!

In 2 days, I have had 2 people point 2 guns in my direction. One was a sales person at Bass Pro Shops. The other was someone who is relatively new, probably having a stupid moment. I'm starting to wonder if muzzle control is uncommon? I know the Bass Pro guy was sure the gun was...

    .380 vs 9mm

I am looking to buy a 2nd gun (you guys didn't warn me this would be like potato chips and I couldn't have just one!) I need something more concealable than my honking XD9. I want to stick to a semi-auto. I am looking at .380s (Ruger LCP, Bersa Thunder, in particular) vs small 9mm like the...

    Holsters?

So, yesterday, I found and purchased a Serpa Blackhawk paddle holster. I'd heard great reviews and was very pleased with myself. Then, I found out this isn't a concealment holster. Huh? I clearly don't know what I don't know. That never occurred to me. It is very comfortable, but if it's...

How do you know if someone is carrying?

I met someone yesterday who was wearing a fanny pack, and found myself terribly curious about what was in there. I suppose if it's well concealed, you don't notice. My ex-bf carried all the time, and I confess I NEVER noticed. I hope this isn't another silly question. I'm noticing...
