    Reloading Steel Shot question.

Hi all, I have been reloading lead shot, slugs and buck shot for around 8 years, now I want to get into steel shot for duck and goose. I have NTC 122 steel wads, 3 inch Remington NITRO Mag hulls and steel shot: BBB, #2, another one that looks like it has a 1 on the bag, then Ecoshot No. 6 says...

    Sabot slugs 517 gr?

I everyone, been awhile but I'm back to reloading again. I moved up here to Alaska at the end of 2014 and have been pretty busy since then, fixing up this place. Anyway, I traded a guy for these slugs and they are coming in at 517 gr. Would that be considered 1 1/8 oz for load data? Thanks in...

    Which scope?

I have a Ruger .338 I looking to put a scope on. One of the two scopes I'm considering is the Leupold VXII 3-9 40 and the other is a Leupold VX-II 4-12x40 Scope. Is there much difference between the two? I'm planing a griz hunt next year and that is what this rifle will be used mainly for is...

Speer 30 cal 130 gr. Hollow Point?

I have a box of these, I was thinking of loading for my son's 30-06, but they are hollow points. Hollow points aren't really for deer, are they? not sure what to use them for. I have always used soft points for deer. What do you use Hollow point .30 cal bullets for?

Ruger new style....handle Ruger/TC only Loads?

I'm guessing my Ruger 45 Colt new model will not handle the Ruger/TC only loads. Anyone know for sure? I emailed Ruger, but all they would say is: "Response: All of our firearms are designed to handle all US Industry Standard Ammunition made to SAMMI Spec. We cannot recommend using the 45 Colt...

Need help, shells fit tight in 22LR Cylinder

I have a Virginian 22 single action revolver and the 22 shells fit tight in the cylinder holes. I have try'd using steel wool with a drill and it helped some, but they are still too tight. The bullets will drop in most of the way, but you have to push them down, the last 1/8 - 1/4 inch with a...

    Mec 700 Versamec?

I have been reading about the MEC 600 Jr and started looking for one. Then I came across a Mec 700 Versamec with lots of accessories for 100.00. I have not been able to find out much about the MEC 700, seems like most talk about the others. My question is, is this a machine worth getting? Is it...

    Uniwads?

"You can take a batch of mixed shotshell hulls of many different brands and base heights and, as long as they are all 12-gauge and in good condition, they can all be loaded with almost any desired shot and powder charge. The Uniwad does not require any adjustment of the load, as it accommodates...

    Federal game load shell re-loadable?

I want to start reloading 12 ga 2 3/4 inch. I have around 30 of the "Federal game load" shells. Are these re-loadable? I went to the hodgdon data site and only found "Federal gold metal plastic", "Federal high power plastic shells" and "Federal paper shells". Do I just use the Federal gold...

Rings and mount for my 300 Weatherby?

I just got a new Leupold VX II 3X9 40 Scope and I am trying to figure out which Leupold mount and rings to get. I currently have Weaver mounts/rings. Is it better to go with a single mount? This is a Weatherby Vanguard Deluxe, if it makes a difference. I did a search, but get lost in all the...

Academy Stores are having a sale!

I'm not selling, but just ran across this. Academy stores are running some pretty good sales. If I hadn't just bought my grouse revolver, I'd be getting one here. Sounds like they have a 50 rebate on some items.....or two mags...

    Rare find! I think?

Here is another rifle I'm cleaning up for a retired friend of mine and when I looked up the Ser no, said it was made in 1919. This is a Winchester, model 1894. Looks to be in pretty good condition. What I saw said it was worth between 300 to 600, just depending. I would like to know what others...

Deer hunting with 45 Long Colt Question.

This will be my sons first hunting trip where he gets to shoot (he's 15). I was thinking of letting him take the weatherby 300, while I take the yellowboy 45 long colt for shots up to 100 yards. I load 230 grain bullets with 8.5 HP38 powder. Will this load be enough to take down a deer at 100 yards?

I just picked up 1000 of these babies and am looking for load data. I can only find data for the 230 grain bullet on Hodgdon and Handloads.com. I am making some +P rounds, with new +P casings of course. I have Clays and HP-38. The bullets I'm using are 225 gr lead cast, TC FP.

    Lee sizer/lube.......

I have a lee sizer and the lube that comes with it. It just seems to be kind of a messy process to lube the bullets. Just wondering how others are dealing with this, or are they using something else to lube the bullets. These are my first cast bullets and I have been wiping off the excess, after...

What do you think of the 22 hornet?

I have never owned one of these, but like the idea of being able to reload a 22. Anyone have any experience with these and what do you think of them?

    Made my first bullets, but....

Ok, my first batch of .452 200 gr rn fp, I dropped out on an old sweat shirt and they stuck to it (I guess it wasn't cotton like material), plus only a few looked like keepers, due to cold mold. So I made a second batch, I kept the mold on a hot burner and dropped the bullets in a bucket of...
