    lee aluminum die question

i just ordered up a couple of lee six cavity aluminum bullet mold dies. i have read in the lee reloading manual thay i am supposed to "smoke" the die cavities before casting a bullet. is this something i need to do for every time i fill the mold cavities? or once per casting session? or just...

    uniflow ?

i am looking for a used rcbs uniflow powder measure. i have been watching them on ebay for a little while now. what are the differences between a uniflow, and a uniflow II? do the cylinders interchange (i want both a large and small cylinder)?

    moly / alox ?

i had an idea, i know, dangerous! lol. anyway, i just finished putting a coating of lee liquid alox on 1k of lead bullets. when i was picking them up and putting them away, i thought, hmmmm, i wonder how it would work to mix in a little moly lube to the alox, mix it thoroughly, and apply. i...

    ammo / components shortage ?!

so, it has been 6 months since our new "fearless leader" has been elected. it is hard for me to believe that people are STILL stockpiling ammo / components. by now, everyone should have 3.8 million rounds of ammo stashed away. so unless you have "cubic dollars" and you are building a 38,000...

    Heads up 4 women

i fell a little weird about posting this, but it really is only about safety. a while back, my wife (who shoots, but not regularly) had an incident that was not very pleasant. and friday, the same thing happened to my daughter. so, in the intrest of keeping others from being injured, i want to...

    44 lead bullets

ok, so i know when shooting plain cast bullets, you have to keep the velocities down under 1000fps or you will get leading in the barrel (revolver). but what about lead bullets with a gas check? can those be loaded to 44 mag specs?

    44 magnum deer hunting ?

so, for the first time in many years, i have decided to try pistol hunting for whitetails. the first time, over 15 years ago, i was lucky enough to hit and kill a trotting whitetail @ roughly 40 yards. i shot at it 3 times, hitting it twice. it "ran" another 60 yards or so before dropping. i...

    turkey shoot

so here i was, minding my own business, just plinking along out near the woods (where i normally target shoot). i had probably shot close to 70 rounds, including 15 300 magnums, and along comes this turkey, strutting his stuff like nobodys business, just thinking he owns the joint. not 5 feet...

    dilemma

ok, i have a situation where i loaded up 250 rounds of 45acp (200 left). i loaded them a little hotter than i like (i wont go into how i ended up with that many, but it had to do with interuptions and kids). they are not dangerous or damaging to the gun, but they are not exactly as nice to shoot...

    Annealing question

so, i know, and do anneal my rifle case necks regularly. and it does seem to make the brass live longer. but my question is this. does the molecular structure change at all because of the flame heating the brass? i know it leaves a carbon ring on the brass, no big deal, but is some of the copper...

    b-i-g

so, given that money is not an object, would you choose a S&W 500 mag, S&W 460 mag, or 44 magnum revolver? those are your choices, no other makes or models. intended use would be deer and bear hunting, and back up for hiking in bear country. it would be a 5 or 6" barrel. don't want to try to get...

    scope mount shim

i need to shim my scope mount, i have the scope adjustment all the way to the up end of travel, and it is still shooting a little low. i am thinking that i need to put a shim under the back of the scope mount, correct?

    S&w 629 ?

i recently bought a used s&w 629. where the fireing pin comes out of the back part of the frame, it appears to have maybe a bushing of some sort? i am not sure of this, but anyway, it is like that part protrudes slightly, and when the gun is fired, the primer becomes concaved by it. i handload...
