    Loading for a Glock 17C

Dearest Sirs, Madames, and Bruce Jenners... I have loaded 1000's of rounds for my .45's, 1000's of rounds for my M1 Garand, 100's of rounds for my M1 Carbine, so I feel like I have this whole thing down, in terms of process and procedure. My wife recently bought a Glock 17C at a substantial...

What is a good starter steel target to buy?

Dearest Sirs/Madams/Others: I have saved up some dough to buy some static steel targets for my family's personal use, but I am not sure what size to buy. I am leaning towards the 9"x12" rectangular type plates, but I'm not sure if that's too small a target, or if it's too big. I imagine us...

Bore Sighter I inherited; worth keeping?

Dear Sirs, My grandfather passed away last year, and I recently received some odds and ends that no one else wanted. Among them was a Bushnell Bore Sighter. It is a curious device, and I'm wondering why he never seemed to have used it. Is it a gimmick device, or does it really work?

data for one bullet, but not another...

Dear Sirs/Madams/Transgendered Austrian Eurovision Singers, I have recently entered into a new caliber to load, the 9mm Luger (or Parabellum as I prefer). My only pistol caliber at this point is .45Auto (as God intended [A JOKE!]), so I'm quite familiar with the procedure, and have found my...

How to choose the right 9mm bullet weight?

Hello dear Sirs/Madams, I am not a new reloader, I have loaded many hundreds, if not thousands, of .45ACP rounds and .30-06 rounds, and .30M1 Carbine rounds. I know what bullet weights work best for those, and what powders, etc.; however, I'm about to expand into the 9mm world for the first...

My experiment with 10rd. 1911 magazines

I bought a couple of these back in December, and I finally got range time to test them out 2 weeks ago. I found that the weight distribution takes much getting used to, and I thought they were harder to recover from shots with than the typical magazine. I'm curious if anyone else has had issues...

    Question for .22LR AR owners

Dearest Gun Nuts, I recently bought the Model 1 Sales .22LR kit, and I am totally in love with this gun! It is so fun to shoot, it is perhaps my favorite non-M1-Garand-or-Carbine rifle I own. OK, it is the only non-M1-Garand-or-Carbine I own...that is beside the point, however. I am trying to...

I'm going crazy trying to install pivot pin on AR lower

I have watched all the videos, it looks so easy, but I'll be doggone if it's impossible for me. I just cannot seem to capture the detent with the pin itself when I try to slide it into place. I may have to pay somebody to do it for me... has anyone else had this much of a problem?

My kingdom for a lower receiver!!

I ordered a Model 1 Sales kit back in mid-December, and an Rguns lower receiver the day after; I've received the kit already, but Rguns has zero progress as far as I can tell... I thought I got my orders in before the real rush began, but I guess not. Is anyone else facing such delays on...

I can't seem to find a stripped lower receiver in stock anywhere...

Can anyone point me to a dealer who has one online? I was hoping to get one at around the $110 mark or so... Thanks in advance!

To anyone who uses the Redding model 1 scale...

Can you post a large picture of the scale with all the parts? I think I'm missing something from one I found in an old box, but I don't know what. I suspect there's a counterweight or something. Thanks in advance!

A word of warning about Herters .45ACP brass

Dearest fellow reloading travelers: I have been loading some .45ACP range pick-up brass lately, and I've discovered that the Herters' brand brass will not prime readily like all the other brands. They either require excessive effort, or sometimes will not accept the primer at all. Please be...

I have fallen in love with a shotgun...

Not in a weird way. I have been doing impromptu research on the shotguns of the 2nd World War, and I discovered the Stevens 520-30 shotgun. It is simply COOL! 1. It's a John M. Browning design 2. It's got the cool humpback 3. No trigger disconnect 4. It was used as a combat shotgun I must have...

    I found a Remington 1100 w/o a barrel...

It's in really nice condition! In fact, it looks as if it might never have been shot. Where might I go to find a decent barrel for it? I don't have a lot of money, and I'm not too knowledgeable about fowling weaponry...

A question about powders, volume, and consistency

I am still new to the whole Lee Pro Auto Disk + Classic Turret. I am currently experimenting w/ different powders, thanks to a generous donation of samples by Orionengnr (spelling?). Now, I am noticing that some powders are metering very consistently, whilst others will not. Question 1: Even...

what to do if load data conflicts?

I'm working up new loads thanks to the awesome Orionengnr (spelling?) who was kind enough to give me some samples of different powders to try. Today I made 10 rounds using W231 [200gr LSWC/6.0gr W231/1.230" COL]. I have the Hornady 7th Ed. manual, and the Lyman 3rd Ed. Pistol & Revolver manual...

    I'm bored at work and...

I wish I could draw an M1 Garand in AutoCAD. Where would I find blueprints of sufficient detail for me to reproduce one digitally? That would be awesome, and would let me learn more about technical drafting. I currently only do survey and engineering drafting, and nothing says "FUN" like drawing...

Question for Lee Pro Auto disk users

Do you guys get powder occasionally escaping from the mechanism? After my 2 sessions so far w/ my LCT setup, I find a few flakes here and there of gunpowder. I assume that it might be normal? 2nd question: When you want to "work up" loads, and you use the LPAD, do you guys just use the disk...

I am in love w/ my Lee Classic Turret!

I finally set it up today, and loaded my first 100 rounds using it. I must say, this thing works every bit as well as all the videos I watched before purchasing it. I used the Lee Safety Prime on it, and it worked like a charm, save for the last primer, it wouldn't go in. I only encountered 3...

I got my Lee Pro Auto Disk today!...

I am currently using it on an RCBS single stage press, but I will shortly upgrade to a Lee Classic Cast Turret. I found it to be very quick, but I had some spillage on top of the disk, very messy. I think, though, this is because my desk I have it set up on is unstable, and it "hops" up during...
