    S&W 4013TSW

I picked up a Police trade-in S&W 4013TSW. It's a 40 caliber...I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet ... hopefully this weekend. Anyway, I had one of these in the 90's and sold it... I found it in a local gunshop. It has some holster wear, but overall in good conditition with 3 mags...

    Problems with new P229

A few weeks ago I purchased a new 9mm P229. It ran great for about 800 rounds using Federal ammo ... As soon as I started using a box of WWB ammo, I started having FTE issues. I took the gun home and cleaned and lubed well-- giving special attention to cleaning the extractor and went back to...

    New M&P 45 Compact

I've been looking for a 45 ... either a M&P, Glock 30 or cheap but good 1911. Well ... I've been checking out these Shot Show Demo M&P 45 compacts at a local range/shop. They had one left on Saturday ... it has nightsights, and 2 mags (all the others had one mag and standard sights) ... so I...

    Improving the 686+ Trigger

I've had a 686+ for a couple of years. A few weeks ago a rep from S&W spent 2 days at a local gun shop. For a donation of $20 to the wounded warrior fund, he did a trigger job on revolvers. I brought in my 686+ and a 637. The 686 now has a DA pull around 8 1/2 lbs and a SA trigger of 3 1/2...

    Newer S&W quality better?

Most of the info I've read on this board and elsewhere seem to say older, pre-lock S&W are better quality. It made sense to me. At this time I have 3 S&W revolvers -- 1 pre-lock. Yesterday I came across this bit of info on the Buffalo Bore Ammo site... "...You'll notice that new S&W...

So I went to the gunshow ...

I went to the Suncoast Gun Show in Fort Myers, Fl ... I've been going to these shows for years and this time the crowd was unbelievable. People are buying ups guns before that right is taken away. The local news stations even reported on it ... http://www.winknews.com/news/local/36112209.html...

    New S&W 637

Picked it up at the gun show ... price was just too good to pass up. I wanted a modern gun rated for +p ammo. So I went to the range today and the first round doesn't fire. Hmmm. So turns out about 1 in 5 or so won't go boom. Now when I used my old 642 the ammo worked fine. One of the...

    New FL CCW soon (hopefully)

I took my class today! On the way home I stopped to get a new "passport" photo (man, do I look P.O.'d in that picture -- not to mention OLD). Tomorrow I'm planning to have my fingerprints completed -- turns out, they do it digitally so the wait won't be as long (hopefully). ..AND I plan to get...

    Older 642 safe for +P?

According to S&W, my 642 isn't rated for +P ammo. Is it safe to "Occasionally" use +P (i.e. practice with standard ammo, but carry +P)? I bought the gun several years ago and it is in "like-new" condition. If I'm going to carry it, I want to get the most out it. Also ... what would be the...

    New S&W 656P 5"

I just been getting back into shooting after a break for several years. The guns I miss the most are a 686 and a 1911 (models I unfortunately sold 2-3 years ago). So ... I after shooting for awhile at the range, I checked out a couple S&W 686P's (7 round 5" unfluted 357... and bought it)...

    Getting back into shooting ...

It's been 3 or so years since I've been to the range. I've been working 2 jobs and just didn't seem to have the time. Well, I quit the 2nd job, started surfing gun sites and got back to the range today ... what a great feeling! I've really missed it ... and regret selling a bunch of guns. I...
