    1885 High Wall in .405

Anyone loading for the .405? I am shooting an 1885 Winchester High Wall. Interested if any of you have any pet loads. I want to develop 2 loads, one load in the 200 to 250 range, and a 300 gr paper patch load. I have heard that .40 cal pistol bullets can be used with Unique for deer...

    Blood speckled meat

Our late whitetail season opened today. While I was feeding cattle, I spotted a nice doe bedded in some brush. She did not pay me much attention, and when I was done feeding, I grabbed my rifle and put a bullet between her eyes. Brain shot. I went immediately to the animal and field...

    '03 Springfield

I am about to obtain a Rock Island Armory M1903 Springfield rifle. Serial # is 225XXX Under the 300,000 number considered by pundits to be "safe". I have heard the horror stories about the brittle receivers, however, this rifle survives. In spite of over a million rifles made and shot, It...

    Ammo Confiscation

This is going around the internet, the included link appears to be valid. Ammo Confiscation (*Many* Americans are scared-to-death at what's coming....) The bill that is being pushed in 18 states requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacturer in a data base of all ammunition sales...

    BATF requirements for Silencers

I am wanting to suppress a couple of rifles, and there seems to constantly be questions on paperwork and permits and what we must do to get a legal muffler for a rifle. I would hope that some good advice comes to this question and perhaps it could be placed as a sticky so we have some roadmap...

    How to for Silencers

Kansas just voted to approve full auto and silencers. My question applies to silencers. If I wish to legally obtain silencers for firearms, what is the process? I read here all the time that different ones of you do have silencers, but I dont, because we have not previously been legal to have...

    Black Powder Cartridge?

Anyone loading and shooting BPC? Here are 3 loads I use in my original 1873 Trapdoor Springfield. FFg powder and 1/20 bullets cast on original design. .45-70-500, .45-70-405, and .45-40-3ball. These loads are accurate to 300 yards. The 3 ball guard load is a good 75 yard coyote getter.

    Shotgun Terminal Ballistics

In conversation with a friend near Charleston, WV, I got a quite interesting story of shotgun terminal ballistics. This happened Thursday of this week. It seems that two fellows had a pick with the party of the third part, and proceeded to his home to pick a fight. The two fellows in mention...

    .45 ACP Heavy

I just discovered that I have about 50 Hornady 250 gr XTP bullets. They are the big old honking six sided hollowpoints. I removed these from a bunch of Thompson Center muzzleloader sabots that I would not put in my .54 rifle. I hate to see them go to waste, and since I am out of all but...

    Keith bullets in .45 ACP

Has anyone had any luck with them? My STI feeds SWC's like grain through a goose, but I have not tried any Keith bullets in it. I do however, run Keith bullets exclusively in my .45 Colt. I have several boxes of 270 gr's for it, but would like to try some 250's in the ACP. My logic is that...

    Angry white men

In election 2008, don’t forget Angry White Man From: The Aspen Times by Gary Hubbell February 9, 2008 There is a great amount of interest in this year’s presidential elections, as everybody seems to recognize that our next president has to be a lot better than George Bush. The Democrats...
