I just purchased a 700 SPS Varmint and I'm getting a new scope. I'm cheaping out and getting a Bushnell Banner 6-18x50. My question is do I need extra high rings or can I get by with just high rings? Someone said the 50mm objective and heavy barrel would mean I need extra high.

I just got a Model 700 ADL .270. I got the rear sight off with no problem, but I cant get the front sight off. I guess it has loctite on it? I hold the gun while someone tries to unscrew it, but it wont budge. Any suggestions?
