    Light recoil recipe for .308??

My buddy has a 10 yr old son who is going to be shooting a .308 bolt rifle. My buddy reloads but needs a light-managed recoil recipe for this cartridge. Does anyone have a recipe for this? Possibly 125 grain bullet? Thank you.

How many 1911 owners prefer an ARCHED MSH?

My Kimber Gold Match has a flat Main Spring Housing. My Dad's Colt has an arched MSH. I like the feel of his Arched one better. After looking at hundreds of photos on here, I notice that very few of you have arched MSH's. How many of you are out there that prefer the arched?

Looking for wood, finger grooved grips for Redhawk.

Hoping some of you folks can help me out please. I have a Stainless Redhawk with a 5.5" barrel. I have some rubber grips that are nice to shoot, but not to look at. I was hoping to find some nice wood grips for it, the type that have the finger grooves. Everything that I find are around $75...

    Redhawk returned from Ruger

You may recall that I had sent my SS Redhawk back to Ruger some time ago because I "thought" that it had a crack in the top strap. It was not cracked, but a deep scratch. I have no idea how the scratch got there. After it was there about a week, I called and asked for an update, the lady said...

    Update on "cracked" Redhawk.

Sent my Redhawk back to Ruger for what looked like a crack to me. They received it last Friday, Monday I get a package from them. It is the hard case that I sent my revolver in. Just the case. In the case there is a letter that said they received my gun, but "do to space constraints, we do not...

    Is Ruger's Warranty LIFETIME?

I have a stainless Redhawk, 5.5" bbl. As I was just cleaning it, it looks to have a small crack in the rear of the top-strap. Left side, not all the way through. I bought it used. This crack is very small and may have been there all along. Do you think that Ruger will cover it? Kev

Anyone buy bullets from LEADHEAD BULLETS?

I just ordered some bullets from Leadhead Bullets out in St. John, Kansas. The owner was extremely helpful over the phone, we talked for 1/2 hour about different loads and hunting with the .44 mag. He has experience with the same revolver as mine, (Redhawk, 5.5" Bbl) and gave me some load data...

    SPEER manual anyone? Need help.

I have 5 reloading manuals, but none of them have the data that I need to reload these bullets. I have a box of SPEER 300 gr., plated Soft points. They are actually just like what Hornady calls a Jacketed Flat Point. I have 4 different powders to try, AA#5, 2400, Blue Dot and Unique. Does...

I need a good BOOK TO READ.

I am loading 44 mag cartridges for an upcoming hog hunt. Is there a book out there somewhere that is all about handgun hunts? If I could choose the the "perfect" book, it would be real-life stories of people hunting all sorts of game with big bore revolvers. Do any of you know of a book...

    2 CANNELURES on one bullet?

I have some Hornady 265 grain jacketed flat point bullets. There are 2 cannelures on these bullets. IF, I crimp it on the lowest cannlure, the OAL would be too long according to the reloading manuals I have. They would fit in the chambers of my Redhawk though. My question is, where can I get...

GUN BAFFLE- NOT a silencer on the gun.

I have been searching on here and the web with no luck. I'm probably calling it by the wrong name. What I am looking for is ideas to build a "baffle box" for shooting THROUGH, not a silencer that mounts on the gun barrel. Years ago, I saw where a guy built a box-like baffle that he mounted on...

What to try next for ACCURACY?

I'm loading for 44 mag again. The Blue Dot powder with the 200 gr XTP's came out pretty good, but they aren't as accurate as they could be. I wanted to try a heavier bullet, so I loaded Hornady 265 grain JFP over 18.0 gr of 2400. CCI 300 primers. I'm getting 1" groups at 25 yards with this...

Why the difference between RELOAD MANUALS?

I am loading .44 mag cartridges. Loading Hornady 200 grain HP/XTP's. Blue Dot powder. Lyman manual lists the powder amount @ 15.7-18.7 Hornady manual @ 16.6-20.9 So, now that I've shot several rounds at 20 grains each, according to the Lyman manual I'm 1.3 grains over max. I started at 16.0...

Who makes a 180 grain JFP bullet for 44 mag.

I like the 180 gr. Jacketed Flat Point Bullet in the factory ammo for my 44 mag. But I can't find the bullets or the data to reload them. All Data that I find list the 180 gr. Hollow Point, but not the flat points. (I have 5 reloading manuals, plus what I can find online) Question- Where can...

What's your favorite powder for 44 mag?

I searched already, but couldn't find a list. Just looking for your favorite powder when reloading for the 44 mag. Different powder for different weight bullets? Thanks, Kev

My .44 mag likes 180 gr. the BEST

Just bought a Ruger Redhawk, stainless, 5.5" barrel in 44 mag. It shoots fairly accurate with 240 grain, WWB. BUT, with cheap Remington, 180 grain soft points, it shoots very accurate. Does this seem strange to anybody? I thought that 44 magnums preferred the heavier bullets. Kev

    S&W 1911PD question

I am looking at a used Smith & Wesson SW1911PD with the picatinny lightrail. Scandium frame, ambi-safety, beavertail, 5". 98% condition. Very clean. The shop is asking $725, New price is $1169. To me, it seems like a great deal. Is it a good deal, or am I wrong? Thanks, Kev

Help me with sight radius please.

After reading your responses on the length of barrel post, I guess this is what I really want to know. I am not concerned with the added bullet velocity between a 5.5" barrel and the 7.5". BUT, some have told me that the 7.5" barrel is better for hunting just because there is more distance...
