    Revolvers and locking points

I'm a handgun novice and I had a little question that I've been wondering about. I know most revolver makers have their guns lockup ins 2 or 3 places. -What are the advantages, or disadvantages to locking up in 3 places rather than 2? +Does a gun that locks up in more places handle...

I want to do everything to my gun that a gunsmith can!

I have decent machine skills and access to a good shop. Where can I learn the basic "jobs" and later the more advanced stuff. I have seen DVDs, are there any books at the library that I could get for free? Or any good gunsmithing websites?

Springfield armory Stainless "loaded" barrel vs. kimer Stainless "match" barrel

I was curious how different these barrels were and if the kimber would, in fact, shoot better barrel wise. Thoughts?

    Handgun accuracy

My buddy is buying a handgun and he is obsessed about accuracy. He seems to think that you should be able to shoot tight groups at 50 YARDS. I told him he was smoking crack. I don't shoot over 50 feet b/c I think a handgun is a close range weapon. Other than big-bore magnums, what is "good"...

    My fiance's "cute" gun.

My fiance is finally showing some interest in guns. I'm trying to find a pistol, most likely an autoloader (although revolvers aren't out of the question), that is either silver or stainless (it has to be cute... sigh...) and medium-large frame or smaller. The caliber will probably be 9mm...

    1911's and their parts

I was thinking of "jazzing" up my 1911 mostly for looks, a bit for function. This is going to go into opinion territory obviously, but here we go. I am also under the impression that alot of 1911 parts/features are just manufacteror BS and don't do anything. -What manufact. has the best parts...

    Rainer 200 grain semi-wadcutters and my 1911.

I bought Rainer plated SWC @ 200 grain .45. I setup a load w/ my springfield-armory full-size 1911. My hornady reloading manual said to use 1.200 or 1.235. I made a bunch of dummy rounds to check COL and rounds w/ COL of 1.252 seemed to be the sweet spot for my gun anything shorter fed really...

Big boy calibers and their presses

I have an RCBS rock chucker/piggyback system to make it progressive that I love. When I bought it I knew that it couldn't make rounds that were longer than .30-06. Here's my questions. If you were to buy a single-stage press to load one of the longer range calibers, what would it be? Does...

Nickel plated brass, nickel, and brass

While looking through brass I noticed remington had nickel plated brass and some other companies had just nickel. I know you can reload nickel and I've heard it reloads more times than brass. Is this true? What advantages/disadvantages does nickel have over brass?

So I blew up my kinetic bullet puller yesterday.

I was hammering away taking apart about 100 dummy rounds I made (no primer/powder) yesterday when disaster stuck. The puller seemed to explode throwing plastic around various corners of my room surprising the hell out of my roommate and myself. Turns out the cap that screws down onto the collet...

    Thrifty Reloading Tips--- List yours

From a post I made on THR These aren't anyting brilliant, but just a couple of good ideas. This first one is for anyone with an RCBS Pro-2000 or w/ a piggyback system. I was finding that when changing plates, powder funnels, or dies my powder measure got slightly misalligned. I used some...

    Kind've silly equipment

I was browsing all the major makers of reloading equip, as I often do, and I saw that dillon make an automatic primer tube loader. http://dillonprecision.com/template/p.cfm?maj=3&min=0&dyn=1& I've never used primer tubes: I've used a hand priming tool & APS strips. How long does it actually...

    Static + reloading

Static pisses me off more than anything. I use 2 powders, titegroup and varget in my uni-flow powder measure. The titegroup has an annoying tendancy to stick. I tried to rub dryer sheets on it or rubber band a sheet to it, but it still happened; it was probably a little less though. I...

    Sportsmen's Warehouse

I've heard alot about Sportsmen's Warehouse or some such here. I need a place to buy reloading supplies for cheap because I can't afford to buy enough powder online to offset the hazmat. I live in Columbus, Ohio and there are none of these stores in Ohio. I used to goto Cabelas to get...
