    CBS Sunday Morning

Just finished watching today's CBS Sunday Morning show. The entire show was on guns in the US. Amazingly unbiased with fair presentation of both pro and anti gun positions. No conclusion, bias, or preconceived notions as near as Icould tell. Definitely the fairest gun presentation I've...

    Dan Wesson Guardian

Today I took my new Dan Wesson Guardian bob tail commander .45 ACP to the range for the first time. Fired 100rds of Winchester 230 grain FMJ Ammo through it with no malfunctions of any kind. Used both magazines. The trigger is excellent right out of the box. Recoil is relatively light. Fits...

    Colt Govt. Competition 9MM - 1st outing

Last week I took delivery on a NIB Colt Government Competition Model 1911 9mm that I found on Gun Broker. Today it went to the range for the initial firing. The grips feel great with the thumb notch. The gun is a bit heavy but well balanced and easy to control. The trigger is very, very good...

Dan Wesson ECO - initial reaction

Just took delivery on a new in the box Dan Wesson 1911 ECO 9mm. I own several other 1911s, including one other Dan Wesson, all .45ACPs. My initial reaction is that I like this gun better than all of the others. It is tight, has very good sights, the trigger is exceptional right out of the...

    Latest addition

A few weeks ago I ran across an article and review on the Winchester 1885 Low wall rifle in .17HMR. I really liked the looks of the gun, so found one on Gunbroker and ended up buying it. Took it to the range today and was very pleased with the way it shoots. It is a bit on the heavy side, but...

    CZ 455 fs

Just picked up a new CZ 455 FS bolt action in .17HMR. It has a stock patterned after the full length, Mannlicher style. Well made with a very good trigger, and smooth action. Very accurate. Not crazy about the polymer magazines, but that's about my only complaint. Nice gun.

    N Y snitch reward?

I'veread a few articles that indicate New York has a hot line with a $500 reward for reporting anyone with an illegal gun. Is there anything to it? Or is it poor nonsense?

    Ruger SR1911 CMD

This morning I took my new Ruger SR 1911 Commander to the range for the first time. I put 100 rds though it with no malfunctions of any kind. It has a decent trigger for a new gun and is quite accurate. I find the sights very easy to see even in the low light of the indoor range. The fit and...

    Piers Morgan

Watching Piers Morgan rant on the news this morning. He was spouting out a bunch of statistics including one that over 100,000 people are injured by guns each year. Where does he get this stuff? Unfortunately he has a very big stage, people slurp up his figures, and they become accepted as...

    Colt Mustang

Yesterday I picked up a very clean used Colt Mustang .380ACP that I got by trading my Ruger LCP .380 plus cash. I was attracted to the gun by the way it looked and felt when I picked it up. After cleaning and lubing it I took it to an indoor range for a test run. I was amazed how nice the...

    Browning 1911-22

Stopped by Sportsmans Warehouse today and looked at a Browning 1911-22. I really liked the little gun and it followed me home. After reading a bit about it I'm happy to see it is actually made in the USA. When I got home I stripped it and cleaned and oiled it. Seems to be quite well made...

    Golden Boy .17HMR

Went to a local shop with a couple shooting buddies to browse. Had read good things about the Henry Golden Boy rim fires so asked if they had a .17HMR I could look at. Showed me a NIB on clearance for $375. Better price than I'd seen anyplace on line so I grabbed it. Can't wait to get it out...

    My first Sig

I just traded my Glock 22 ( plus some cash) for a like new Sig 229 Equinox. The Glock just didn't fit my hand well and was uncomfortable to shoot. Took the Sig to the range for the first time today and was amazed how well it shot. Very accurate and the recoil felt significantly less than the...

    Offset scope mount
