    Bolt action 7mm

Once upon a time I had a Winchester Model 70 wood/stainless 7mm. Like a fool I sold it to scratch up some money to buy another bow. Dumb plan. Now a few years later Im getting the itch to get another 7mm rifle. Whats everyone's thought on the best "reasonable" priced 7mm? I have a 1966 Colt...

Cleaning and protecting a Shiney Nickel Pistol?

I just bought a 1966 Colt Government .45 and it has the shiney Nickel finish. What does everyone with nickel plated finishes use to clean and then protect the finish?

    Shipping Black Powder Guns?

Can a guy sell a black powder gun and then ship it to who ever bought it? Or is it like firearms that have to go thru a dealer??

    Lead on outside of cylinder?

Recently shot some .38 special and .357 loads out of my S&W Model 19 and after getting home and cleaning the gun noticed lead on the front end, on the sides of the cylinder just above each chamber. This is on the outside of the cylinder on each of the six chambers, directly on top of each...

    Lead out of a .40

When shooting totally lead bullets(no jacket at all) out of a .40 semiauto...Do SWC/semi wad cutters feed ok or not? I suppose it depends alot of the particular gun. But in general......... Looking to reload some .40 and need to buy some lead for an indoor range that only allows full lead bullets.

    Source for .40 lead?

Where is a good source to buy bulk quanitys of .40 lead? I just read a post on here that said that SWC may not feed the best in semi-auto in the .40 caliber. Have used some of the Ultramax reloads thru Cabelas for the .40 and they are what they call CNL(conical nose lead) and they have worked...

    Indoor range backstop question

If an indoor range has 1/2" thick plate steel for its backstop and its at an approx. 45 degree slope downwards towards dirt/sand. Wouldnt that stop a FMJ bullet out of a pistol? Indoor range we shoot at is lead only and no jacketed. But wouldnt you think 1/2" thick steel would stop a FMJ?

    New to Reloading Questions

Im seriously thinking of getting into reloading my own handgun rounds. Now, I would like to load .38 specials, .357, and .40 S&W. I read a thread on here that said that the Lee Classic Turret Press was a decent reasonably priced unit to start up with. Based on the calibers I listed, would...

Store bought lead wad cutters for .40?

Club I just joined has a restriction on the indoor range of only lead bullets. No FMJ or jacketed bullets period. For the .357 revolver I have I have no trouble obtaining wad cutters. But for a .40 caliber semi auto I see its not an easily obtained round. Other than Magtech who I see makes them...

    Lead bullets vs. jacketed

May be a dum question.....But after shooting lead bullets (wad cutters) is it tougher to clean the gun as compared to say shooting jacketed or fully jacketed?

    Fixed Sights?

General question: Why are fixed sights on a handgun so widely used? I have a S&W Model 19 and that gun has an adjustable rear sight for both left/right and up/down. Once sighted in,I sight down the barrel I know I am on. With some handguns I have been seeing the rear sight is fixed. Wouldnt all...

    Stoeger Cougar 8000

Ok....I know this all comes down to personal preference but what would you all do with this choice. I have a S&W Model 19 .357 revolver right now, and looks like I will be getting my hands on a Stoeger Cougar 8000(Thanks to my Dad!). Im leaning towards the .40 caliber over the 9mm right now. So...

    S&W Model 19 Question

I have been reading some articles online that say that a guy shouldnt be shooting anything in the model 19 except 158g bullets. That, if you shoot 125g loads it is abit hard on the gun, and forcing cone area and can cause it to crack. Is that for 38 special rounds as well as the 357 rounds? or...

    S&W Model 19 vs. S&W Model 686

I have a very nice Model 19-2 .357 and do like the gun alot. It seems to be a very accurate shooting gun. Now, Im not married to this model 19, and have been thinking what would be my advantage to going to the model 686 in .357? Is the 686 a "tougher" gun that would stand more abuse shooting...

    Basic question

I am new to shooting handguns and bought from a past boss of mine a S&W Model 19-2 .357 that was in GREAT shape! Anyhow, I have been shooting just for target, .38 special rounds. I have been shooting semi-wadcutters in 158g. It seems that being they are all lead they sure do make for a chore...
