About the 22 Hornet ... and cleaning in general

My Ruger 77/22 is my Problem Child. I have fixed some issues with a washer between the 2-piece bolt. And now I've loaded up 10 different loads, using V-Max and Nosler. Question: How often do you clean in between shooting different loadings to test for accuracy? Thanks for any help.

    Sizing new brass - question

I'm making some of my first rifle loads. I have some new Lapua 243 brass. Does it need to be neck sized before loading? Thanks

    American Ammunition ("A-Merc") - Beware!

This stuff has been posted on before but not for a couple years. I was punching out primers and cleaning some 45 Schofield last night getting ready to do some reloading. I was having a real difficult time removing some primers and couldn't figure out the problem. Then I found a split case ...

A question about this site's participation

I notice that between 200 and 400 people view this forum at any given time. This is one of the premier gun forums on the internet. The internet is mature and people who Google for information on firearms will most definitely find this site. So why aren't there 10,000 - 25,000 viewers here...

    You Can't Clean Your Bore

Practically speaking, you can't get your rifle bore "clean" without total heorics. Push through ammonia-based (copper, lead) solvents. Oil patches. Brushes. Keep going. There will always be copper or powder residue stains on your patches if you try hard enough. Pushing a patch from the...

    New (to me) Sako 243

I just got off a FOB in eastern Afghanistan and bought myself a reward - a Sako Forester from 1969 in 243. I'm now told by experts that the stock is not stock. But it's outstanding nontheless; someone really knew furniture. The bluing is unmarred and the rifle looks new. Got one of those...

Don't let This Happen To You - stock refinishing

I bought a new Ruger 77/22H (.22 Hornet). This is my first "modern" rifle; all mine are military surplus or pre-1960. The first thing I did was clean the metal with Eezox and put some boiled linseed oil on the stock. I went to grab it and go to the range the next day and it stuck to my hand...

    Question about Trap Ranges

Hello, I wrote earlier that I'm a nooby to shotguns and this question will prove that. I'm looking at remediating a shotgun range. I've worked on ranges that shot all calibers before but never a shotgun-only range. I don't know the guns so I ask: How far will typical lead shot fly? What...

    A complete nooby to shotguns

Hello, I post on a lot of forums and can get around most rifles, pistols, and automatic weapons, but ... I have my first shotgun and I need some advice. My Father-in-Law just gave me a Marlin Model 42 in 12-guage. It's an old timer, with a 4-round magazine and a hammer. I feel like I was...
