    Odd

The linked ad in armslist has me scratching my head: http://www.armslist.com/posts/2002693/texas-shotguns-for-sale--beretta-dt10-trident-sporting Why would this be selling so far under market value, when there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it? There is a companion ad for a trap model...

Will this need to be regulated?

http://www.racembac.com/ I saw this on an ad during a hunting show. For some reason it made me a little uneasy. I'd like to hear any comments about it, just for discussion.

    Good news (and bad news)

I checked today, and Recob's has small pistol primers in stock. :) Bad news is that buyers are limited to 1000 per order, so you'd have to buy a some other stuff in order to spread out the hazmat fee.

    Left handers get screwed (again)

I was looking through Remington's 2007 catalog. They no longer offer a left handed 1187. Now, I know it's probably to cut manufacturing costs, and that the CTI 105 is supposed to be ambidextorous, but, its $600 more, AND the safety is still set up for a right hander! (Plus, I was...

I am thinking about getting a Timney trigger for my swedish mauser. Is this a simple switch or is there some gunsmithing required?

    Colt trooper repair

I need to get a new ratchet for my colt trooper (the original trooper). My local gunsmith said that the ratchet is not sold as a separate part, and that I should send it to Colt to get it replaced. How good / responsive is Colt's repair service? Is there another "Colt specialist" that could...

Ever had an animal too close to shoot?

I had an interesting experience Saturday. I had put up a stand in a new location, which is basically a thicket with a small stream running through it. There are only a few trees that I could get a stand in, and I ended up in a cedar tree about 10 feet off the ground. I have a good view of a...

Thinking about building my own load

I know this goes against the basic rules of reloading, but I am thinking about trying a load that I don't have any direct data for. here's the deal: I have gotten hold of a powder that is not made anymore (Win 630), but had been used in 38 special, 357 mag, 45 auto rim, and 44 mag. Loads for...

    Winchester 630 powder

I just lucked into a free keg of winchester 630 powder. I've checked it and it still seems in good condition. It may be 20 years old, as my old sierra reloading book mentions loads for the 44 mag using it. I also was given some pages copied from a speer manual that has 630"P" loads. DOes...

    This one is stumping me

I have a CVA .54 in-line that is very accurate with 295 grain copper powerbelt aero-tips. It shoots 1 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards. I tried 295 grain lead powerbelt hollow points, with the same powder charge (100 grain equivalent of 777), and they are all over the place. Does anyone have any...

how to correct= hitting target low and right

I am a left handed shooter and have been practicing with my BHP over the last couple of months. When I miss the bull, almost always the shot will be at 4 -5 o'clock on the target. I've shot from a rest, and the gun's sights are on (12 o'clock hold). Does anyone have advice on how to correct...

    fixed choke markings

I have a 28 gauge side by side that I was given as a present about 20 years ago. It is a Spanish import. On the underside of the barrels are 2 sets of markings, one set of 4 stars, and one set of 3 stars, which I believe represent the barrel chokes. Can anyone tell me what chokes my gun has...

1187 12 gauge - light hits on primer

I was skeet shooting yesterday, and got several failures to fire. When I checked the shells, the primers were barely dimpled. I've put a couple of thousand rounds through the gun with no previous problems of this type. I had stripped it down and cleaned it last week. At first I figured it...

Limits on purchasing / having gunpowder

I just found out about a Maryland regulation that limits the amount of gunpowder you can purchase or have at any one time. First, I had it passed to me from my club's secretary that you can only buy 4 pounds of powder at one time. I did an internet search on Maryland laws, and they seem to say...

    reloading data - general question

I had previously asked a question regarding a load for the 44 special. After getting several responses, I have a follow on question - How long is the data applicable? Example, is a Red Dot load from 20 years ago still ok with the Red Dot made today? Should the books / software be relaced...

Red Dot Load for .44 special

Has anyone out here used Red Dot for a 44 special load? I came across a recipe in an older (1980's) Sierra manual. 6.2 grains topped with a 240 gr JHP. 6.4 grains was maximum load. 800 Fps. I am curious as I haven't come across any recent manuals with that loading.
