    Shipping Slide Through Mail

I can't find the information I need on the USPS site, so does anyone know if you need an FFL to ship just the slide to another person? Obviously it's not the gun itself, so I was thinking it wouldn't be a problem shipping through USPS.

    Disposing Brass

I had over 1,000 spent casings saved up for a project I was planning to do but now I have to dispose the brass because they have rusted away after I washed it 2 weeks ago. I kept it all in a tin can so I couldn't see the rust until I poured it all out and the bottom half was completely rusted...

    Next Week on Mythbusters

Next week (4/19/06), Mythbusters will feature another gun myth. "Bullets Fired Up" Episode #50. Adam and Jamie test to see if bullets fired up in the air can kill when falling back to earth.

    Fully Supported Chambers

Which guns (that you can think of) have fully supported chambers? I know Glocks don't, but what about HK USP, Beretta 92, CZ75, SIG, Walther P99, Ruger P-Series, Taurus?

    Glock KaBoom! in Mindhunters

I just saw Mindhunters (which is about FBI trainees on an island). One of the trainees had a Glock, not sure what caliber it was. Well, he ended up having a KaBoom! which killed him. Half of the Glock slide was blown off and also part of the rear receiver. Maybe it's "Hollywood...

    Assault Weapons in California

Well, I had an "assault weapon" defined by California laws. Here's what happened. I bought the gun legally in Colorado while I was living there, then moved to California. While most of the country had already dropped the ban on assault weapons, California didn't change, which I wasn't aware of...

    Brass/Health Concerns

Is keeping the brass anyway hazardous? I have hundreds of spent casings in a tin can (the cans that they sell with cookies in it). Just wondering if there's any health concerns to be aware of. By the way, I don't reload my ammo, I'm planning on making a coffee table with the brass laying ontop...

    Transporting Ammo

I tried the search feature and couldn't find what I was looking for. How is ammo transported 'legally'? I know you can't transport it in the same case or bag as your pistol(s). I buy my ammo at Wal-Mart before hitting the range in the mountains. My handgun is in a pistol case inside a sporting...

    Moving to California from Oregon

I'm asking anyone living in California or whoever has knowledge of California gun laws. I've been reading the DOJ website, and can't quite get a clear answer. I'm currently living in Oregon and planning to move (back) to California. I purchased my handgun here in Oregon so I'm not sure about...

    Gun Terms

Since I'm relatively new to firearms compared to many members here, I sometimes get lost as to what some are talking about when it comes to gun terms such as 'double tap'. I don't see any threads that have definitions of gun terms. Maybe we can get one going?

How do you practice loading magazines?

So how do most of you practice loading your magazines to reduce loading time? I usually load empty casings (at home) in a magazine. I don't put it back in the gun cause well, that's just dumb lol. But I've found that it simulates the same loading process. I'm not sure if I'm the only one that...

    Primers & Pressure

Just out of curiousity, how many pounds of pressure does it take for the primer to ignite?

    Jams

Why do some people put so much emphasis on jams? Isn't that a part of shooting guns? I don't mind a jam every now and then as long as the gun will still shoot. I figured out why my gun would jam... it was the ammo. My gun is picky on ammo so I fix that problem and is pretty much jam free.

    Lubricating the barrel

Is it a good idea to lubricate the outside barrel?

    PMC Green

Has anyone tried PMC Green? They supposedly clean your weapon of lead. They seem to be a little more expensive. But if they're as good as advertised, I'm thinking of picking up a box and run a full mag through as a final run through during my practice sessions.

    Printable Targets

I've seen a few sites offering decent printable targets. I found 1 site offering human silhouette targets. http://members.fortunecity.de/tracer/targets/targets.html They have a little over a dozen bullseye targets as well as human silhouette targets, and a couple black and white real picture...

    Display Models

The other day at a gunshop, well a store that sells guns and other things, this guy said display models are good luck lol. I was thinking about how many times people actually handle the display models. If there's none left in stock except the display model, would you feel as good as getting one...

    Range Report on Hi-Point C9

I went to the range this morning. It's an outdoor range and it's pretty cold (about 28-32 degrees). This is my first centerfire handgun, and I didn't get a chance to clean it before I took it to the range so I shot right out the box. I shot 25 rounds (saving the last 25 for next time)...

    How do you tell...

How do you tell if a box of ammo is reloaded? Would it be stamped on the box or should you look on the casing shell for any marks? The reason I ask is because I see some ammo advertised on the Internet that look used (reloaded). I look at the prices on the internet to see how much it's running...
