Savage 12FV on sale at Cabela

$319 on sale now. Ordered one in 223. Can't go wrong at this price. 26" heavy barrel is heavy, but weight helps to be more stable and therefore accurate and reduce recoil. Savage also have a $100 rebate, but don't think applies on this Cabela exclusive model.

    Hornady 6.5mm 264Cal 100 gr "match" bullet at .18/rnd

Midway has it on sale, one time offer item, appear to be a special run of the discontinued V-Max with a different color tip and call it "Match" bullet. Quality bullet for Grendel shooters. A little too light for Creedmoor I guess! I don't have either, but ordered some anyway! Now I just need to...

AR ejection port brass deflector shelve height

I notice DPMS 308 Gen 2 receiver has brass deflector ramps down to ejection port almost with no "shelve" (step) while standard 223 AR upper brass deflector front edge stands up from the port with a shelve (step) almost 1/4" high. Ejected brass hits the "shelve", bounces forward and sometimes...

How you make sure die closed to shell holder in full length sizing?

I have Lee Challenger press which does not cam over, from time to time, I would get a hard to size case, if I don't check, the die may not fully close to shell holder and I would have chambering problem. Is there a easy way to make sure die close to shell holder instead of checking it visually...

    Who makes 5.56 brass headstamp "T" ?

I pick up this 5.56 brass case at my local range from time to time, small font headstamp "T" and "5.56x45" at the other side, silver primer, 3 point crimp and black tart sealant. I don't recognize the headstamp, google suggests it could be Tula but Tula brass I have seen have TulAmmo headstamp...

Hungarian AMD 65 AK price stay low?

Any reason Hungarian AMD 65 AK price stays relatively low compare to other AKs? Even IO sells $100 over Hungarian AMD 65! I know AMD parts are not compatible to other AKs but many AKs in the market are not AKM exchangeable anymore.

    F&S 223 REM brass?

Anyone recognize this brass? who make it? Awfully small flash hole, a decapping pin buster. Cut the brass open to see exactly how small the flash hole is. A 1/16" drill bit would not get in the hole. Below is a picture side by side with FC brass.

PSA 7.62x39 AR47 light primer strikes

My PSA 7.62x39 AR47 has light primer strikes 1 out of 4 rounds. The ammo is Russian Barnaul white box. At first I thought the firing pin is not a 7.62x39 firing pin and PSA sent me another 7.62x39 firing pin (P/N 505873), appears to be the same as what I have already, same length same firing pin...

How wheel guns can be accurate!

Can someone explain how wheel guns can be accurate while bullets have to travel down free bore, forcing cone before engaging the rifling. Pistols and rifles try to minimize free bore, tight headspace and seat the bullet close to rifling in order to be accurate! I have seen some amazing groups...

    Release bolt on empty AR

How do you release bolt when you're done shooting with your AR and mag is removed? Hit the bolt release and simply let the bolt slam back on an empty chamber or pull the charge handle back and ease the bolt back? I haven't shot my ARs for a long time, can't remember if it matters! I know it is...

AR buffer sliding mass in semi-auto

Is there any other semi-auto rifles use sliding mass to control bolt/carrier bounce like AR? Even full auto, I can't think of a major battle rifle use a sliding weight to control bolt bounce. Does AR really need that in civilian semi-auto applications? If solid mass will do just fine, the...

What states/cities do not recognize C&R?

Is there a list of states and cities do not recognize C&R and all firearms have to go thru regular FFL? Don't want to ship a C&R firearm to individual C&R holder, who may not know their own law, and get in trouble! I gather Oregon, CA, Washington, NJ, any other?

Any reason not to load 7.62x39 with imr4064, bolt gun, cast bullet

I know 4064 is too slow for 7.62x39 and no load data, but I am not loading for 16" barrel AK semi-auto, but for shooting 123 gr coated cast bullet out of bolt gun with 22" barrel. Any reason not to do it? I have plenty 4064!

    Park my C&R for now?

My C&R is due to renew but I can't see any near term need to keep it current. Consider to let it slip for now and just reapply when I feel like. Is there any wait period before reapplying?

I have 2 large ring mauser trigger guards that have the same action screw spacing as the "standard" 98 mausers but the magazine length are 3/16" shorter than the standard 98 mauser magazine and use shorter floor plates.
