    Found While Loading .38 Special

Loading .38 special I find this cartridge. I found it when I was crimping and felt nothing on the upstroke. The short case is a .38 Long Colt.

Cracked Nickel .45 acp Case Mouths

So I come across some cracked case mouths from time to time. Though my nickel plated .45 acp cases amount to less than 5% of total .45 acp cases, almost all the cracked case mouths are nickel plated cases.

    Powder Jug Handling

So I have an 8 pound container of powder coming tomorrow. It's all they had and all I could get. I am familiar with using 4 pound jugs and an 8 pounder seems like it will be unwieldy. Or is slinging around 8 pounders no big deal?

    .22 Revolver Recommendations

I would like a .22 revolver that shoots whatever .22 ammo I buy. Does such a beast exist? How do I find one? How do I know it does work the way I wish before buying it?

    Upside Down Primer

So I have a case with the primer inserted upside down. I would like to use the case. In this era, I want to reuse the primer. Suggestions?

What Comes With the .45 Colt Brass

I received and I am working on some "one fired" .45 colt cases that I ordered. So I've attached a photo of some of the cases. From left to right: Case 1: .45 Colt. Looks perfect. Case 2: .44 Magnum I caught it during resizing as there was no resistance Case 3: .45 Colt. But nickel...

    45 acp Flash Hole Size

So while I am cleaning .45 acp primer pockets, I notice two very different sizes of flash hole. The picture I attached shows the one with a small hole with lots of different head stamps. But about 1% or so have this relatively huge flash hole. All the huge flash holes have been Winchester...

    corncob in the flash hole.

So I have some .45 acp cases that are primed, but I want some a little cleaner so into the corncob tumbler they go. Most of them now have a chunk of corncob in the flash hole. Sometimes I can rap it out, sometimes not. Is there something I should do? Thanks.

    1911 Full Disassembly Frequency

How often are we doing complete disassembly of the slide (firing pin and ejector)? How often for the frame? I would assume the answer would be some number of rounds. But if in storage, how long (I assume years) between teardowns? Thanks.

How would the powder load differ when the only variable is a hard cast lead bullet vs a FMJ of the same shape?

colt 45 case wrinkles during seating

I finished reloading some 45 colt using Hornady 255 gr FP (.454) #12458. They have no canelures and are covered with a powdery type lube and the sides of the bullet have a friction type surface. All loaded fine. I'm going to be testing them later today. But I finished those 200 bullets and...

    case material ID

I've got some 45 acp cases that look like aluminum. They aren't shiny like nickle plated and they aren't steel. What are they made of and are they OK for reloading?

    my first reloads

I just finished my first reloads. 45acp, 4.9 gr Winchester 231, winchester primers, win brass and 230 gr FMJ on the top. The powder fills the case about half way. Would a powder that fills the case more be better, worse, or ??? For bullet seating, I took one factory round and pressed it into...

    Is this economic nonsense?

I've inherited all the equipment I need to reload 45 ACP. So this is great, I shoot the heck out of a 1911 and one of those autoordnance tommyguns. Now I look at cost for supplies and it doesn't make sense to reload 230 gr 45 ACP hardballs. I can buy 100 rounds at walmart for $20. I hope I'm...
