    446 Stock

What stock material and supplier would be the most durable for stock and forearm on a Marlin 336. I have one which was split in shipping and while the epoxy repair appears perfect I've decided to replace it. While doing so I can't think of any reason not to go with the most durable. Birch...

No 158 Gr. 38 Spl Loads

I was looking through the Remington and Winchester ammo pages and didn't find any 158 Grain loads. Are they going to 125 grain accross the board because of the cost of lead? Some other reason? I've always been partial to heavier bullets and it looks like I'll have to reload everything.

    Reloading Lever Action

I have my first lever action rifle. I've read for forty years that you should full length size brass for lever action rifles. Since you fire a cartridge and the case fireforms and then springs back a bit I'd like to know why you can't neck size the brass only while reloading. If more than one...

    Win 94 loading problem

I just bought my first lever C/F (Win 94 30/30) after 45 years of shooting. Never even handled one before. Is there some "trick" to loading through the loading gate? Even on the first shell when spring pressure should be at it's lightest I have to use the nose of a second shell to push the...

    Clean Powder Recommendations

I've been reloading for many years using the old standys Bullseye, Unique, H-110, 2400. I'm going to start reloading 2 new to me calibers. 41 Magnum and 45 Long Colt. Are any of the newer powders especially clean burning for loads in the 1000f.p.s. to 1250 f.p.s. range? Any guidance is...

    C Press recommendations?

I've been using a C-H C press for 40 years. It's time for a new one. Not interested in a Dillon or other expensive because they cost half a months pension check. I used to see a lot of ads in Shotgun News etc but those seem to have gone away. Anybody have a recommendation for a $100 or less press?

    Mammoth Ivory Grips

A couple of months back, I think in the Semi-Auto Forum a poster dropped in a website for a maker specializing in Mammoth Ivory Grips. I've forgotten what the actual thread was and can't find the posting on a search. Anyone know what it might be? Thanks

    Dry firing perc

Is there a way you can dry fire a side hammer Percussion (Bobcat) and not harm the nipple or hammer? So far all I've done is hold the gun on my lap and pull the trigger with one hand and catch the hammer with the other. I'd really like to feel how the trigger is in firing position.

    The Supreme Court

With a 5-4 liberal decision Justice Kennedy announced the execution of Juveniles is no longer legal. The decision was based not on the U.S. Constitution but on International Law and International Sociatal Precedent. How long will it be with liberal courts before International Precedent tosses...

    Can a barrel be sleeved

I don't seem to get much response but I'll try again. I really want to try a .32 or .36 M/L The only ones available seem to be beyond my means unless I were to find the maligned Spanish varieties. Is it possible or economical to have a NEF for instance sleeved to a smaller caliber?

Does anybody make 32 or 36 cal.

I'd like to have one for plinking. Less Lead, less powder. Less noise? It just sounds like fun. With all the talk of bad barrels I wonder if the smaller caliber would make that problem go away.

    Help with starter for Grand-daughter

I was just checking out muzzleloaders at the Rossi site as they have a new youth size model. It is available as 45-50 caliber. Short 20 inch barrel. Till now I've never done any M/L shooting so I need to ask whether a 45 cal. round ball would be too much for a 50 pound 10 year old. I wish they...

Am I the only one who wants Iron Sights?

Lately most mid caliber rifles come with no sights. When I buy a rifle I take it out and shoot from the hip (literally) into a backstop for a few rounds to make sure they function, then the rifle sits for a year till I get the money together to buy a good scope. Iron sights I can use any time...
