    Un-burnt powder? 357 SIG

I loaded up 10 grains of AA #7, behind a 124 bullet. Used Lee factory crimp die (I love it). Shoots fine, as long as the cartridge chambers all the way. SIG P226 pistol, BTW. But, most rounds leave powder residue IN THE CHAMBER, which causes the next round to jam. (sand colored granules). How...

I have a few old remington 12 ga shells. Can I get an assist at decoding the label? Primary question is: are these 4 aught buckshot? What does the last "4" mean? Suitable for home defense? "Remington Express Plastic, SP12-- 3 3/4 -- 1 1/4- - 4" They shoot fine out of my Mossberg/Miculek...

    Colt Anaconda - light strikes?

My new pistol is appearing to produce light fire pin strikes now. 4/20 rounds I made yesterday needed multiple strikes to fire them. Same load and components I have new using for the last couple of months. WLP primers, fyi. Before shooting yesterday, I did slide off the pachmeyer? grip, and put...

    Henry 44Mag Load Help?

I am finally trying to sight in my 16.5 in, 1:20 twist carbine. I have mainly plinked with lead bullets, but loaded up some good 180 HP bullets, with 20 gr of AA #7. Accuracy testing. Using the factory buck horn sights is alway a challenge, but my groups at 50 yards were 4-5 inches or so (5...

    Backstrap cleaning?

I picked up a new stainless colt the other day. Impressed with the build quality. Gap between cylinder and forcing cone is tiny, but of course I am still getting lead deposited on the backstrap. Too many years, I forgot how I cleaned my last S&W. Will a brass brush mar the stainless? Or can...

Anyone Else "Done" with rim fire rifles?

Whats the point of wimpy 22LR rifles?? OK, so maybe you can shoot a nice group at 50 yards. But can you get that buck on your dinner table with it?? Not very often, I bet. 30 caliber rifles are the way to go for dinner and for long range. Who can argue with that??:D

    Anyone Else "Done" With Reloading?

Just think of all the cool titles we could come up with ... After 20 years of reloading, I would rather shoot a 22, were no reloading is required. OK - not quite true - I do have to reload the magazine when it is empty. Anyone Else "Done" With Reloading? :D

    Neck Turning - again!

So you found a lopsided/lumpy neck, and you turned it down. Now you think you have the best cases on the range. But ... A lopsided neck can often mean that the entire case is lopsided: a thick area of neck can mean thick area of body. So what i do (one of the first steps) when I want the best...

    Illinois Rifle sales Questions

Don lives in Dupage County. He has a FOID. His friend gave him a few rifles; Don wants to sell them. Any concerns with Don selling thru the gun auction sites, FFL-to-FFL? Can he sell FTF to a FOID holder? Any reason he can't just sell to the local shop? What else am I missing? TNX Dave

    Rainy Day Fotos

Another soggy afternoon in North Florida. Forgive me. \ Here is a picture of a couple of SIGs I used to have. Love the P226 - heck of a round, too (357 SIG). Ignore the text - it is wrong. (Note to CIA/NSA: I lost both of these in the Suwannee River when a sturgeon jumped into my canoe and...

    Kudos to Hornaday

So I thought I was an experienced reloaded - knew all the tricks and pitfalls. I was resizing some 223 cases, but I used a sloppy shellholder, instead of searching for the right one. So naturally , as I try to withdraw a case from the die, the head slips out of the shellholder. Now I have a...

    Happiness is ...

Shooting bug holes off your front porch on a beautiful afternoon. Remington 40x, 22LR. Picked it up from the CMP a while ago. Heavy long barrel: I think it is heavier than my match M-14's. Likes CCI ammo. Leupold scope. I can do about 40 yards on this range - not bad. Happy Thanksgiving!

    Winc 1897 Issue

Picked up a nice E model (takedown) a few weeks ago. Worked fine, after I put in a full strength mainspring. But now, it seems that the slide goes too far forward, and the slide then disconnects from the carrier. Carrier can then drop down, get jammed, etc. Nothing seems broken. Attached...

    Remington 03-A3

I picked up one of these a couple of years ago from the CMP. After shooting a few times, I relized how painful a 30-06 can be! So I just put a homemade rubber pad on the butt - makes a world of difference - it is fun to shoot now! Made up some soft loads to try with 180 sierras I had floating...
