Whenever I clean my AR or my XDm I always end up with gunk under my nails (even though I keep them trimmed). I cant imagine CLP, Hoppes bore cleaner or Rem oil being good for you. Do you guys wear gloves (mechanics style) when cleaning your firearms?

I have never cleaned the lower of my AR other than basically wiping down with CLP the trigger area. How necessary is it? Almost every video on youtube focuses mainly on cleaning the upper. Im assuming the spring in the lower should be wiped with CLP from time to time. Sorry for the noob question.

I have a XDm 9mm 4.5 inch and an MP15 Sport 2 AR15. How often do I need to use them to make sure they stay in good working order and of course I do clean and lube em after use.

Cleaned it after using it the first time and now I cant figure out how to properly put back the charging handle and the bolt thingy that goes with it. Ill go to the gun store to buy a bore snake and ask him to show me how to put it back in lol :p
