    K Frame & Warm 357

My go to load for 357 Mag is 16.5 grains of H110 under a 158 gr bullet. I recently picked up a Smith 65-6 that is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I read conflicting info about what these K Frames can take and what they can't. Will my loads take a toll on my M65 or am I worrying about...

    Non adjustable sight adjustment

My astigmatic eyes seem to work best with the long notch through the top of revolvers with non adjustable sights. Just picked up a Smith 65-6 and it is no exception. Only problem is, at 25 yards, it shoots 2" left. Any way to adjust non adjustable sights? No big deal if not, but wouldn't mind...

Metal belt clips for leather holster

I have a holster for of my revolvers that is the perfect holster when wearing Wranglers. When I wear Carhartt jeans (98% of the time) the belt loop is in the way for positioning the holster just right. Thinking I can cut the belt loop off and rivet on a pair of metal belt clips so they can...

    357 Max from 350 Legend

Have always wanted a 357 Maximum. Have thought for a long time that a 7 or 8 shot X frame 357 Max would be the cat's meow. Anyways, what about shooting 357 Max from a 350 legend Smith & Wesson X frame? Yes, I know it can't be done, kittens will die, guns will explode, etc. Some companies ream...

    Shooting with Astigmatism

I have astigmatism in both eyes. Should probably wear glasses but manage without them. Can shoot pretty well considering. Not sure why, but the notch in the top strap of fixed sight revolvers just makes everything work for me. Makes everything significantly clearer than the square notch sights...

    Most Effective Muzzle Brake

Have a lightweight 7mm Rem Mag that I don't like shooting. It doesn't kick hard per se, but it it nasty sharp. Fancy butt pads, etc. Doesn't really hurt the shoulder, but it rattles the brain. I don't like the looks of muzzle brakes, but after only putting about 10 rounds through it in the last...

    S&W 619 Barrel Lengths

What were the longer barrel lengths offered for the Smith 619? 6"? 7.5"? 8.375"?

    8 Shot 357

Thinking about another 8 shot 357 mag. Have a 5" S&W 627. Love everything about it except the Hillary Hole. Would like a 5 to 6 inch barrel again. The three option I have found are the: S&W 627/327 Ruger Super GP100 Taurus 608 I really like the 6.5" barrel on the Taurus - just not sure about...

    PX4 Decocker Conversion

Thinking I want to try a Beretta PX4 Storm. What does it take to convert a safety model to a decocker only?

Double Stack Hammer Fired DA/SA .45

Looking to add another pistol to my collection. Want a double stack, hammer fired, DA/SA .45 ACP. No safety, decocker only. Current production models I have found are: FN FNX45 Beretta PX4 HK 45 From what I can find, the HK and Beretta are easily convertible to decocker only. Not sure about...

    XTP vs Elk

On my way home last night I came upon an elk that had been clipped by a 2 ton farm truck. Looked to have broken the elk's back as the elk was thrashing around and trying to crawl away on its front legs. No one else on scene had a gun but I had my 8" 460 S&W under the seat so I was the one to put...

    Better small primer tool

I have all Hornady reloading equipment. Bought their lock and load kit a couple years ago and went from there. Not completely satisfied with their primer tool for small primers. Works great for large primers. Small primers like to stand up on edge as they are coming out of the disc into the...

    Rear sight options

I have been practicing a lot with my revolvers over the course of the past year. Have made huge improvements, but still have a ways to go. Anyways, the sight setup that seems to work best for me is a fiber optic front sight and just the notch in the frame for a rear sight. Not sure why, but the...

    460 S&W Conversion

Really liking my 460 XVR. Would love a repeating rifle in 460 as well, but I don't have $5K+ to drop for a Big Horn Armory Model 90. Is there a bolt or lever action rifle good for 65K PSI that could easily/affordably be modified by a competent gunsmith to 460 S&W? $2K budget, maybe $2500.

    H110 Compressed Loads?

The Norma reloading manual says ball powders are not to be compressed. As far as I know, H110 is a ball powder. Correct? Looking through my Hornady manual it lists the max load for a 357 Mag with 110gr XTPs over H110 as a compressed load. So what gives? Which one is correct?

    45 Colt and Win 231

Loaded some 45 Colt for the first time. 200 grain cast (cheap) bullets over 8.3 gr of 231 (max load). Shoots well, but it's really dirty. Leaves flakes of charred powder in the brass, cylinder, and barrel. Is this normal for 231 and light 45 Colt bullets?

    New 1895 Winchester Strength

How strong are new 1895 Winchesters in 30-06? I have heard the originals didn't like 60K PSI loads. Will the new one take it? I would like to get one and have it rechambered in 30-06 AI if it will hold up to 60K loads... Thoughts?

Smith & Wesson XVR light primer strike

Out shooting my new to me XVR 460 and I had a light primer strike that didn't go off. Second try on that round it went BOOM just like it should. Has only happened the once. Was shooting single action. What do I need to do to make sure it doesn't happen again? Just a longer firing pin? TK...

    454 and 460 65K load data

I am trying to find max loads for 454 Casull and 460 S&W. Specifically for 240 and 300 gr Hornady XTP mag bullets and H110 powder. All I can find is up to about 56K PSI. I want loads pushing up to 65K PSI. Where can I find this data? Hornady and Hodgon have been no help. I am rather new to...

    Hot 460 S&W Loads

Flipping through my Lyman 50th the other day I noticed all the load data for 460 S&W with H100/296 topped out around 54 to 56,000 PSI for all bullet weights. Online load data is the same way. I thought the 460 was a 65,000 PSI load. Why can't I find any load data a little closer to 65,000 PSI?
