    Lyman 401043

I'm sure someone here casts these. What is the length of this bullet?

    Lee Micro Disk Reproductions

The Lee Micro Disk made accurate and consistent small loads of hard to measure powders like Unique possible on the Auto Disk Powder Measure. Lee discontinued the Micro Disk, evidently because of a broken mold and prohibitive replacement costs. I heard that an independent vendor was advertising...

    Maruhna Type Rifle???

I found a bring back letter in my dad's WWII stuff. It describes a Japanese "25 Calibre Rifle, Maruhna Type". I have to assume he got it in India. Unfortunately I don't recall him ever having a rifle like that, or even mentioning it to anyone. I have to guess he got rid of it before my time...

    Kahr PM40 Magazine Problem Revisited.

I found a thread related to this, but it was over a year old, so I will just start a new one. For reference, here is the old thread: http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=483193 I have been trying to figure out why the slide on my Kahr PM40 sticks to the rear with a full magazine. It...

    Standard? Start Charge?

Some loading manuals just list a maximum charge weight, and simply suggest reducing that by 10% as a starting charge weight. Some loading manuals list a maximum charge weight, and a starting charge weight, which is almost always about 10% less than the max charge weight. I just noticed that most...

    I open carried today

And no one noticed. I must have been distracted this morning. I distinctly remember checking the chamber and safety on my carry piece, and placing it inside my waist band like I always do. But I obviously tucked my shirt tail in behind the gun instead of over it like I usually do. Had...

Alternatives to the Lee Auto Disk

I load pistol rounds on my Lee Classic Turret press. The Lee Auto Disk powder measure with the adjustable charge bar meters Unique pretty well on charges over about seven grains, but it is totally useless with smaller charges. Accuracy all over the place. I've already read all the threads here...

    44 sp/44 mag, 38 sp/357 mag dies

I'm considering trying a hand at loading some revolver brass, particularly 44 mag and 38 sp. I would like to be able to load 44 special and magnum, and 38 special and 357 magnum. I'm looking at Lee Dies. Lee offers die sets labeled for the special rounds, and they also offer die sets for the...

    Bearing Surface variations question

Reading in my new Speer #14. It says; I'm not looking for specific information for a specific load, I'm just wondering how much of a "major player" bearing surface is, in terms of starting load calculation? For example; I am trying to figure up a starting load for a generic pistol bullet, for...

    Scored!

I came across a gun store in Yellowbook that advertised reloading supplies. It was about fifty miles away, but I decided to drive over and check it out anyway. It was right in the middle of a residential neighborhood, in the garage/basement of a house. He had a small sign out front. He had about...

    45 acp lead bullets

Some years ago, before I really became aware of the dangers and risks of shooting someone else's reloads, I fairly regularly got some 45acp reloads from an old WWII vet that I knew. I have to guess that they were around 200 gr lead RN. I must have shot several hundred of them through my Star PD...

    Precision Delta OAL???

I'm trying to figure up a starting point for loading with Precision Delta 9mm 124 gr FMJ RN bullets. The load data for a Sierra 125gr FMJ RN 8120, in the Hodgdon manual would seem to be a fairly close match. The Hodgdon data calls for an OAL of 1.090 for the Sierra bullet. According to the...

    I'm Running Low

I'm running low on W231. I had planned to pick up a pound or two at the next local gun show. :( Yeah, you can stop laughing now. Seriously, any chance of finding any anywhere?

    Variations in primers

So far, I've been loading CCI small pistol primers in my Lee Safety prime, on the press. Never had any problem. The only primers I found at the last gun show were Winchester or Federal. I had heard of too many problems with the Federal primers, so I bought the Winchesters. They don't slide...

    Inconclusive load work-up?

I just loaded my first batch of Precision Delta 40 S&W 165 gr. FMJ FP bullets. I used W231 and CCI 500 small pistol primers. I used load data from the Lyman #49 manual for a 165 gr. bullet. I'm at work now, and I don't have the manual handy. I can't recall which bullet it was, but it was close...

    2nd Amendment March Question

A forum search turned up several threads regarding previous second amendment marches, but there seemed to be nothing on this current one. I would not have been aware of it if I hadn't seen Hickok45's video on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yMcH60xX1o&list=UUvB3solmhqtgDeLpD-yTtfg&index=1...

    Load Work-up worksheet

I got tired of having to search back through my rather messy notebook for previously developed load data, so I came up with this worksheet. I use it to work up a load, and then punch it and keep it in a loose leaf binder in order, with all the other loads I've worked up.

    Tumbler question

My Frankford Arsenal tumbler seems to do a much better job on the brass, and it does it much quicker, if it has lots of media and brass in it. I'm guessing that lots of brass allows the cases to vibrate against themselves more. Is there an ideal amount of media/brass that works best for you?

    Batteries other than automotive types?

After reading the numerous warnings about not trying to extract the lead from modern automotive maintenance free batteries, I definitely do not intend to try it. What would you think about this? I can get my hands on an old set of deep cycle liquid acid batteries that were used as backup power...
