    Detonics conundrum

This little pistol has me over my head. Everything I read says Professional Models are Mark VIs. But here it is: a Mark I marked Professional Model, right above the serial number. How come? As you can see, it is an early, four digit serial number. Any info will be greatly appreciated!

So you think a S&W 36 is small...

Think again! :D Sorry for the lousy, nighttime pic, but I just had to share this beautiful, tiny Pocket Positive that is staying with me for a while so I can fit a new bolt. I wonder what would happen if someone decided to make a modern version.

    Taming (timing) the Snake

Disclaimer: This is purely anecdotal. I am not advising you to do as I did. If you do and ruin your first year Python, it's all your fault. If you follow my instructions and your revolver turns into a neutron grenade, explodes and extinguishes all life in the planet, it will be your fault- not...

    Stuck (staked in?) sideplate screws

I'm having a very hard time trying to get those two screws out. I ground two tips that fit the screws very well (at least the lower one), and tried every trick I know: -Penetrating oil. -Tapping them with a bronze punch. -Freezing the gun. -Soaking for two days in more penetrating oil. And...

Revo ID- Now with decent pics

Anyone can tell anything from this lousy picture? It is the only one I have.

They say 1957 was the happiest year...

Well, that must mean something for me, as I find that three of my favorite revolvers were made in 1957, 1958, and 1959: 1957 Cobra has the smoothest action I've ever experienced in a snubby. It is a joy to shoot. 1958 M17 3T, becuase it makes it VERY hard to miss what you're shooting at...

A little bit of Python love for a change, and a question.

Boy, was I happy when I got my Jan '77 issue of American Handgunner. 3 articles about the Python by Mas Ayoob! The most interesting to me was the one about the first Python. :D BTW, can any of the oldtimers tell me what grips are those on the first pic? Images removed as they violate TFL's...

    My first I frame!

Well, improved I frame actually, but I am happy about it. I frames are unheard of in my neck of the woods, so I sprang at the opportunity. It is a Model 30 no dash, with a lot of aesthetical imperfections, but action is nice as can be. I'd call it mechanically new. Not the K32 I was looking...

Why is Micro smiling so much?

Because I took my old friend the six-inch Python to the range. I am a mediocre pistol shoot at best, but with this revolver even I can shoot some very nice groups. Load it with wadcutters, and it thinks it is a match pistol or something! Well, I guess I just wanted to share a happy moment :D

In love with a weird French old lady

Recently, I brought a really weird pistol: an Unique DES 69: Being a nut for old match guns, I've always wanted one, but had never even seen one in the flesh before I got mine. First thing I did was taking the muzzle weight off, as I dislike front-heavy handguns. That, and it looks way cooler...

Python front sight pins driving me crazy

So I want to install a patridge front sight on my six inch Python. Easy enough, isn't it it? Well, it began in fine fashion indeed: take the proper starter punch, both pins start drifting OK towards my right... and then they stopped, just flush with the rib. And I haven't been able to...

    Colt New Service

Hi, and please forgive the lousy picture... it is the only one I have. I've been offered this NS in .44 Russian, and I am very tempted. I know nothing about them, but I'd like to pic your brains about it. I my ignorance, I think that barrel could be 8" instead of 7.5"? And the front sight looks...
