lengthening an 870 express synthetic stock

I think I figured out my sometimes on, sometimes off shooting with my 870 express synthetics. The L.O.P. is too short. I just picked up an 870TC with a 15" L.O.P. and broke a 50 straight with it first time out. Also, I shoot my Browning pumps, which have a slightly longer L.O.P. better and with...

    870 express synthetic 16 ga.

Always looking for something a little different, I ordered a Remington 870 express synthetic in 16ga. today. I really wanted a 16ga. wingmaster, but I cannot believe how hard they are to get. Every place I went to called their distributors, and all were backordered. So, being the impatient fool...

Remington 11-87 vs. Beretta vs. Browning autoloaders

Hi everyone. I have been toying with the idea of purchasing an autoloader for my sporting clays and skeet shooting habit. I have always used pumps for these pursuits, and while they definitely perform great, there are a couple of shots on my home course where an auto, or O/U, for that matter...

    A couple of questions about a S&W 27-3

I was looking at my newly acquired model 27-3 and seen a couple of things you guys might be able to enlighten me about, as I haven't owned a revolver in years. First off, the area that the rear of the cylinder locks into, under the firing pin bushing and beside the hand, is slightly rainbow...

good deal on S&W model 27-3?

I have an oportunity to buy an excellent condition S&W 27-3 from my uncle for 300.00. Is this a good price? It has a 6" barrel, and the bluing is perfect, the only signs of it being shot is a little residue on the face of the cylinder and on the recoil plate. So I was wondering, is it a good...

How often should I shoot up my carry ammo?

I noticed the other day that the ammo in my G26 looks a lot older than it is (about 2 months old). How often should I replace the ammo? I am a big guy that perspires fairly heavily in our hot Las Vegas summers, and am worried that if the time ever comes when I have to use my weapon, the chamber...

    Brazing on a Remington 870

Hi! I am just curious about something I noticed on my new 870 express. I noticed the magazine tube is brazed, or silver soldered, I dunno. Also, I am assuming that the square piece that is on the breech end of the magazine tube is also brazed or soldered on. To further clarify, the chamber end...

Well Dave McC, I finally went and got an 870.

It's an express synthetic model, 12ga. 28" bbl. It's ugly, but I suspect it will make a dandy upland and waterfowl gun. After seeing you rave about the 870 constantly, I had to go out to rediscover one. I hope it's as good as my old 870 TB trap gun was. Pat Brophy

    My Browning got a boo-boo

Ouch! While I was trying to install the magazine limiting plug on my BPS, I dinged up the magazine cap end of the tube pretty bad. Take this as a lesson... use the right tool for the job. Don't use your gorilla strength as I did. Anyhow, the cap still screws on perfect, and the gun still...

    dry firing shotguns

I own four pump shotguns... a Benelli, a Browning, and two Mossbergs. My question is, after I am finished shooting, should I dry fire the gun to release spring tension on the hammer? Or does it really matter if the spring remains compressed. I know a couple of guys that own O/U's and they never...

Accelreated use test of Mossberg shotguns.

I just finished reading all the past threads on the Mossberg 500 series shotguns. I noticed that a lot of folks think the 500 is not quite up to heavy usage. I, too, have wondered about this, and am going to use one (I own two of them) of my Mossberg 20 ga. pumps exclusively until I can get...

good deal on a new Mossberg!

Just here to brag a little, so bear with me. I just purchased a brand new crown grade Mossberg 500 20 ga. at Wal-Mart that was on clearance. Regular price was 199.00, but I bought this one for 117.00! Brand new! Even though I already owned a 500 20 ga., I just could not pass up a deal like this...

    Browning BPS

Hi everyone. I made a kinda impulse buy tonight... a brand new Browning BPS 12 ga. 28" bbl. I have been looking at other options, namely Remington 870 Expresses and Mossberg 500's, but could not buy these after seeing the Browning. I paid 359.00 for it. They were asking 399.00, but I dickered...

.357 mag. for mule deer hunting?

I am very interested in using a handgun to deer hunt this fall. I am wondering, is a .357 mag with todays hunting loads suitable for mule deer? I know a .41 or .44 mag. would be better, but I would like to purchase a .357 because of the fact I have so many more uses for it, other than hunting...

    7mm magnum recoil comparison

Hi everyone. I am contemplating the purchase of a Savage package rifle in 7mm magnum for deer season this year. The only big game rifle I currently own is a Marlin 444 (the early style with straight grip, monte carlo comb). I shoot this rig fairly comfortably, and pretty darn accurate, to boot...

problems with cci blazer in a G30

I have a question for you guys and gals... what can I do to remove the deposits left from firing Blazers through my Glock? I shot it yesterday, and the rounds worked perfect! Very accurate also. However, when I took the gun apart to clean it, I noticed fouling in the barrel that I cannot get...

G17 with new frame (3 pin)

I could not resist today. I got another G17 (my second) with the new 3 pin frame and loaded chamber indicator. The best part, however, is the price... 438.00! brand new! I cannot believe how inexpensive it was, as I paid 490.00 for my older G17 not too long ago. I am going to get a Streamlight...

    Beretta barrel woes

Hi everyone! I recently posted on my new 96G Elite, and the bore that had a few "rough spots" in it. I could not take it anymore, I brought the gun back to the dealer, at Beretta's suggestion, and asked him to ship it back for me. I told him that level of workmanship was totally unacceptable on...

bore wear with brass bore brush

Will it , realistically, harm the bore of a stainless pistol barrel by using a brass bore brush? I used a brass brush this afternoon to scrub out the bore of my new 96G elite and there is a rough spot in the bore. I at first thought this was fouling, but repeated attempts at removing it was...

    .40S&W ammo question

Today, my grandpa and I were discussing the .40S&W cartridge, and he brought up something that I would like some opinions on. He stated that using the subsonic .40 cal., 180gr. loads would save wear and tear on my 2 .40's... both Berettas, one a 96FS inox, and the other a 96G elite I. I have...
