    Tell me about C&R FFL

I am considering the C&R FFL and wonder.. Will this allow me to ship C&R handguns a method less expensive than next-day? Would it be enough to ship any handgun at full FFL regulation level? Under some circumstances, by US Mail…? As time goes by, I am realizing that my primary interest is in...

Why do they call it "30 SuperCarry"? Looks like .32 to me!

I was just looking on the internet at "30 Super Carry"... which looks to me like ".32 S&W Long, +++P, rimless". Why they made the bullet diameter 0.314 is baffling when there is plenty of 0.312... which we call 32 caliber. Since my Ruger seems a little bit "open", I am looking forward to more...

Not sure if this is "hunting" or "gunsmithing"

Yesterday after 3 hours of stomping in 8 inches of snow the good dog kicked up a rooster pheasant. I was startled, excited and my first shot was stupid. I spent several seconds trying to cycle the pump of my brand new Fabarm L4s Hunter. It's an autoloader. The dog was kind about it but I went...

    Seeing an odd thing...

I was looking at a photo of a Dan Wesson revolver and in the area where the cylinder ejector mates to the back of the frame, the ratchet has made a nice star in that area. Is that normal or a sign of a problem? I am a single action guy mostly!

Rugers: small, medium, large and diet

Well, we have some time... I like Ruger single action revolvers. I've owned quite a few... a set of .347/9mm (Old) Vaqueros, .44 Vaquero, several .45 Stainless Bisley Blackhawks that shot really well, a .45/.45acp blued Blackhawk, .22 Single Six... this is what I've whittled down to...

    Preparing and Cooking Squirrel

We have some time and in case of the Zombie Apocalypse... I recall a friend of mine telling me she loved fried squirrel. She was a country girl, now passed away. My attempts at cooking squirrel were not successful... it ended up sort of meat flavored rubber for jaw exercises. Having thought it...

I'm thinking of a 9mm, best financial investment is...

I have not owned a 9mm in 20 years and that one I got on a trade and passed along after 5 shots. I think it was a Glock 26. Chubby tiny little thing. Just by chance and maybe by getting good buys on quality hardware I have been able to get guns, shoot them for 10 years while keeping properly...

Proudest dog in the world got his first pheasant.

My two year old labrador just got his first pheasant and it's a miracle to see how happy and proud the little guy is. He aggressively chased two down in the deep brush, flushed them, and for once I did my part correctly, then he ran off and with a little direction found his bird. He's not ready...

Gun reviewers I take seriously... and not.

Being a gun reviewer must be a tough job. On one hand, your reputation is crucial. On the other hand, you have to make money and keep your sponsors happy. Hickock 45. I like his reviews. He shows the gun in his hands, shows how they shoot at assorted plinking ranges, and shoots once or twice...

    Initial impressions: Bersa Thunder .380

I have a new dog, find myself in the woods more than ever, and we like to plink. After a while, the .22 gets a little stale. Without doubt, a nice .22 is the best “walking plinking” pistol out there. But what’s the second best? As the caliber wars loop back around to “let’s try to sell .380s...

Thoughts on Single Seven vs sp101 Match Champ?

I’ve decided I need something between my .22 and my .44. At some point, I’ve had about every Blackhawk (or vaquero) from .357 to .45 Colt and the massive Freedom Arms revolver. In the end, it’s my dad’s custom .44 Blackhawk that made the final cut. I have my favorite .22 already... but I need...
